Hi, I have read with some confusion the
various postings about ripping/burning DVD's.

Here is my first question:

I would like to add the extra "deleted scenes" found on some
DVD's ie WE WERE SOLDIERS back into the movie. I would like to
know how to do this? Do I need a vob editor or what? Using
POWER DVD I have been able to add the scenes to the 'playlist'
but need to know how to insert into the main movie vob's.

Thanks, OMM

Hello:

I, too, have read this with some confusion. You apparently have the movie in hand, but you haven't told us anything about the programs you're trying to rip and burn with. As far as I know, Power DVD is a player, and has no encoding or burning abilities. You need to post back with more specific information or results of your failed attempts. While you're waiting for someone to reply, run searches and poke around. There is much information archived here at Doom9 on what you're trying to do. One small piece at a time, that's how most of us start. Good luck.

Hi-

I've done it before but decided it wasn't worth it because the deleted scenes are usually of much worse quality than the movie itself (I did it with Pulp Fiction, and not We Were Soldiers). While the movie was anamorphic, the deleted scenes are usually 4:3 widescreen letterboxed and noticeably inferior in quality. But as far as I know, the only way to merge them into the movie is to do a bunch of cutting and splicing in VDubMod/Nandub after the .avis are complete. And to get them to append at all, of course they have to be of the same resolution, same codec, same audio, etc.

I suppose you could use ChopperXP to cut the vobs at the right places and to add the deleted scenes vobs and renumber the vobs properly, but that sounds even more complicated and difficult to me.
