Hi all,

I need help with subtitles in Star Wars Episode 2 (R2). When I play my copy in my PC with PowerDVD everything works flawlessly. But when I want to watch it in my standalone there are no visible subtitles (no matter if I choose them via menu or remote control). Everything else works perfect. I did my copy with CCE and Scenarist scenario...

Any idea???

There are many threads discussing subtitles in SWEP2 but no one helped me :(.

I had once the same problem and turns out that I had encoded a 16:9 movie as 4:3, thus loosing the subs that played perfectly on my PC.

just a thought.

Thanx for the tip :). I re-encoded it again, compiled and... still the same except some navigation error :D. So I edited ifo files (I edited some jump command not subtitle command  )and it started to work :D. Only small error remains - I am not able to switch off subtitles once they are selected?? I can change them but not disable. Really strange title. Maybe some Lucasīs magic :D :D.

setting the subtitle to 0 disables them all, 1 enables the first track, 2 enables the 2nd track, etc.

Enf...

As I understand you right - this set subtitles on or off before playing. But my situation is:

1) when I start watching movie without selecting subtitles i have none - itīs OK
2) when I select some subtitle stream before or during watching movie everything works - itīs OK
3) when I select some subtitle stream before or during watching movie and then I want them switch off I canīt - itīs not OK :(.

Any idea??

I have the same behaviour in an old Philips standalone I have still around.

Once I enable the subs, there is no way I can turn them off using the remote. I learn to live with it. :)
