Starting from this week, I have trouble with the ripping process. It starts out fine, but then somewhere in the middle, it just got stuck. I tried several discs including one that I just bought today. None got ripped completely. What could be wrong? I doubt reinstalling will solve the problem, because if it is software issue then the ripping process won't start at all, right? These discs play fine in my DVD-ROM and Apex.

What do you meant by it got stuck? What kind of error do you get? Is it something like Read error at XXXXX etc.?

it just refuse to rip or write. It is like the file is corrupted, or the disc is scratched. The light on the DVD-ROM keeps blinking, but the size of the file doesn't grow. It is same as you put a bad dvd in it and it keeps trying to read it but can't read anything. However, these dvds plays fine in the same DVD-ROM or my stand alone dvd player.
I know this is not supported, but as a test did you try to rip these DVDs with any other ripper like SMARTRIPPER or DVD DECRYPTER etc.
Did they rip it properly?

It sounds as if the DVD is damaged. Try what amit suggested but only try with DVD Decrypter (not supported on this forum).
Edit: If you would like to let dvd2svcd do the ripping then just use DVD Decrytor to do a iso or file copy to your hd. Then rip from the HD files. Make sure you have the ripping on in the ripping tab in d2s.

Well, I tried the DVD Decrypter to copy the ISO to HDD, and it got stuck at the same VOB file. the good news is only this dvd has problem ripping now. I wiped others that caused me ripping problem lately and they all passed. It definitely sounds like this last dvd is damaged, right? but this one is the Pianist, brand new, no scratch that I can see, and plays perfectly fine in the same dvd-rom that I used to rip it. i guess i will just have to be extra careful with it, and give up the idea of watching it on my notebook (no dvd-rom).

You might want to mention that in the Decrypting forum. The fact that it plays without problems (verify that) all the way through, yet can not be ripped might be of interest there. Note I said "might" as it could well be a known situation.
