View Full Version : Can't capture more than an hour from MiniDv cam analog passthrough

I recently bought Canon MV5i DV camcorder with analog passtrough feature. I tried to capture an old but in very good condition VHS tape from my JVC SVHS with built in TBC, but the capture stops always after 15 - 70 minutes for some reason (OS WinXP Pro with NTFS HD's, so that not the problem). I've captured this tape before with my Terratec TV cards without any problems, just wanted to capture it this way too to compare the results.

I've tried capturing with WinDV and DVIO and also with iuVCR, no luck this far. Should I try Pinnacle studio 7 instead? (came with the cam). Should I turn TBC off from my VCR?

Any help would be appreciated. Is there anyone in this forum capturing from a Canon DV camcorder?

What's the error message if any ? Is the incomplete captured file usable or is it corrupted ?

From your post, it seems that your capture stops at a random time after 15 minutes ? I remember reading about some timing capture problems in general but I forgot where.

Dirty solution - capture overlapping segments 15-20 minutes at a time and join them in a video editor program.

Pedro.

No error messages. I think the avi is usable, but I rather continue capturing with my good old Bt848 card than go "the multicapture way".
