I've bought some Ritek G03 printable:
00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 37 0E 0B .B...@....P..7..
FE FF 80 00 03 52 49 54 45 4B 47 00 04 30 33 00 .....RITEKG..03.
and I've a lot o problem to burn them with Pioneer A05.
I've already readed some thread about Ritek.
I used a "sure" image (already tested with other media) with DVDdecrypter at 1X, 2X with original firmware 1.30 and also "1.30 RPC1 Ritek G03" and "1.30 RPC1 2x4all 12xRip". The burning software alway answer "successful" but the dvd are corrupted when reading on PC and on stand-alone player they will freeze after about 1 hour.
Is the Ritek G03 compatible with PioneerA05 ?
Could I modify something in firmware, software, method?
Or maybe is better to take away the other G03 I got?
Thanks to every answer

What speed did you write at? Maybe you got a bad batch?

at 1X and 2X, but the result is the same. (sigh!)
I think or the Ritek are a very low quality media or it's only a matter of firmware....

I am not sure because I own a Pioneer A04, so I donīt know about the firmware numbering for the A05 but may it be possible you are trying to use the A04 firmware on the A05?
I am using firmware 1.30 on A04 in order to burn Ritek G03 at 2x and 1x and it works great for me.
It was just a thought that you mixed firmwares for the two drives of different generation...
Hope that helps.
PS: Are you still able to burn other media without problems?

Hi Digisei,
I think is very dangerous to use a firmware not designed for that Hw, e.g. for A05 the latest is 1.30 and for A04 (if I remember right) the 1.41.
Until now I used media: Pioneer 4X, That's 1X and 4X, Quixo 1X, Basf 1X without problems.
thanks

The firmware you have SHOULD burn fine. Can other media burn fine?
I had a DVR-A04 that used to burn Ritek great, about 2 months ago every disk was horrible. I sent the drive into Pioneer and a month later they sent it back unrepaired. They said there was nothing wrong. Playing around showed me that indeed I could burn the High quaility medias fine (apple, TDK, verbatium) yet Riteks and some of the other good but not expensive medias no longer work.
Thats why I suggest seeing what other media does at this point.
BTW is the burner internal or external right now?

every other media works fine, the problem is only on Ritek G03
My unit is an internal one
Now, I think is a bad batch of Ritek....is the most logical answer.
thanks to everybody

A bad batch would seem likely in that case. First comfirmed bad batch of G03s I've ran into, but with media anything is possible.

Use DVD Speed on one of your burned RitekG03 to have a look at the quality, reading it in a DVDROM if you can.

Who are you asking? I know that my test with DVDspeed and G03s is a pretty sweet curve, better then some of the "expensive" stuff I've played with.

I give to a friend of mine a couple of Ritek to burn. Him have a Sony DRU500. It seems that also on Sony that dvds works very bad.
Conclusion: This is only a bad batch of Ritek. Hardware does not matter.
I can't do other test bacause I was send back to seller all the remaining blank disc for refound.
Thanks everybody

Where did you buy those G03 and when?
I bought 100 Ritek G03 from rima.com and received on May 7, 2003.
The color and wrap are similar to other Ritek G03 I got a while ago.
However, this batch refuse to burn at 2x on my A04 with 1.40 firmware.
It just aborted with SCSI error at the beginning.
I tested my A04 with other media at 2x and works fine.
This batch burn only at 1x but verified ok.
DVD speed test goes very well.
All my DVD players play it very well.
