Since no one has started a thread for the Bravo D1 I thought I would start one. We can share problems, bugs, and success stories about this new DIVX/DVD player.

About the Bravo D1
The Bravo D1 is produced by V Inc. Their address is www.vinc.us (http://www.vinc.us). The player is very affordable at $199, and the shipping is extremely reasonable. The player utilizes the Sigma Chipset. I got mine from the first batch. Now the wait is apparently 4-6 weeks. They can only be purchased from the V inc website. Somehow this company is affiliated with Princeton Graphics. Their CEO is apparently from Princeton. My Fedex ship notice came from a user with a PG email address. There are several threads over at avsforum about this player. Most people are purchasing this player for its upscaling support over DVI.

DIVX Support
It claims to support Divx 4/5 and Xvid files, without GMC or QPEL. It claims to support CD-R and DVD-R. I've found it only recognizes these files when burned as ISO filesystem type. Discs burned as UDF are not recognized.

My Experiences
The DIVX support is rather sketchy. Here are the problems I've run up against.

When Divx files are burned to DVD-R or DVD-RW:
File will play for a random amount of time 3 min - 20 minutes, and then player will "reset". Screen goes blank and player jumps back to original menu screen. I can start the file again, and it will not "reset" at the same place (leading me to think that its not a file or media problem, per se). If I copy that same file to a CD-R it will play, but with the issues below, however it will not reset. I've used Princo DVD-RW (which they claim not to support), although DVD-Video movies copied to DVD-RW play just fine. I've used KHypermedia DVD-R, Pioneer DVD-R, and Optimum DVD-R with the same "resetting" results.

When Divx files are burned to CD-R, DVD-R, or DVD-RW:
During times of high motion or scenery change, video playback will freeze for 3 - 10 seconds. This seems to happen on Xvid or Divx files.

All files play correctly when played on a Win2k box with Mediaplayer.

I've sent email to Vinc twice, and never heard back. I gave up on their phone support queue. Maybe someone from Vinc will read this and reply.

Post your questions, comments, etc in this thread. Lets get some discussion going about this new player. Its really the first of its kind to be targetted at a US market for this price.
