Menu stripping inquiry

The dvd is "Mad Dog and glory"PAL.

VTS_1_* is the main movie set, of which VTS_1_0 holds the menu's that i want to edit.

I have split VTS_1_0 by vob ID and ended up with 44 seperate vobs.Only the first four hold the main menu and three chapter menu's that i want to keep.I will delete the other 40 and edit the buttons on the main menu to remove the links that would have pointed to now non existent menu's,i will use "Menuedit " for this.

Then my plan is to remux the remaining vobs back to the original VTS_1_0 with vobedit.

My question is...will i need to do anything with the IFO file for it to work correctly or should it work ok as is?

Incidentaly,The 44th vob holds a ten minute clip of an old black and white "Twilight Zone" episode and this clip is duplicated exactly in VIDEO_TS.VOB.Why i do not now.

There is a fare more easy method, just open the vts_01.ifo with ifoedit, and use the Menuextra Button to strip out the vobids of the Menus that you do not need, this take 5minutes and you´re done.

Ps: If you don´t know which IDs are those you want to erase, just scoll down to the Menusection in ifoedit and doubleclick on the listed Menus, ifoedit will show a preview of the Menu. The vobids are listed right in the row. If the Ifoedit Preview doensn´t work open the vts_01.vob in DVD2Avi and Preview it, this will show the ids too.

I find it better to use vobrator or dvd2avi. I have had some experience with IfoEdit to show a different (read wrong) picture of a vob-id from the menu.

I haven't had 100% luck with either, although I'm just beginning to figure out dvd2avi. I sometimes split apart (demux) the .vob using vobedit, with cellID checked, such that it strips each cell out as a separate .vob, which can then be viewed individually (in my case by double-clicking, and PowerDVD opens up). This, combined with the index file generated, is 100% accurate. In fact, it has revealed menu screens that I've been unable to locate in any other way.

ADD: I'm exploring the options/settings available in DVDdecrypter, and it looks like you can rip a .vob to separate cells with that tool, too, though I haven't tried it.

Well now u can use MenuEdit to delete the parts of the menu u no longer want. First view the menu and since u can see the clip while editing it makes that much easier. Of course u need to register the program first. After that, just correct the ifo file that belongs to the menu with IfoEdit.
