@EoH
did you ever try working with azidts (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53173&highlight=azidts) ? it's much easier! no need to use graphedit, ssrc, wav2wav6...

I do agree azidts is much easier to handle, but why not a second method ;)

Hi EoH,
Thanks for the nice guide :)
I intensively tested HyperCube, wav2wav6, and azidts.
As others, I'd also suggest that you give azidts a try.
It's simple, fast, and uses least disk space for the intermediate steps. It even works in batch mode, and it works with the existing BeSure 1.2 (at least for the 44.1 kHz end-product; 48.0 is rumored to be supported by the upcoming BeSweet 1.3 ;) )
Kind regards,
Andreas

Hi EoH,
Don't have a guide, but the Logfiles and Command Lines in the threats show it well:
azidts 0.1: quick feedback (dts transcoding) (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=53173)
Ripping DTS Track to perform DTS CD (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=33411)
Otherwise, send me a personal mail for specific questions / problems, and I'm happy to help.
Kind regards,
Andreas

Hi EoH,
I don't have any original DTS cd's, but I tested the procedure from quite a few CDR's with dts: extracted DTS-WAV's with Exact Audio Copy, and run the ripped WAV's through BeSplit v0.9b4 (it even has a nice droplet-GUI called BeSpliced).
BeSplit.exe -core( input 01.wav -fix -logfile BeSliced.txt -type dtswav -output 01_Fixed.dts )
would produce a logfile:
[00:00:00:000] +------- BeSplit -----
[00:00:00:000] | Input : M:\01.wav
[00:00:00:000] | Source Sample-Rate: 44.1KHz
[00:00:00:000] | Channels Count: 5.1, Bitrate: 1411.2kbps
[00:00:00:000] | Output : M:\01_Fixed.dts
[00:00:00:000] +---------------------
[00:03:18:669] | Writing M:\01_Fixed.dts
[00:03:18:669] +---------------------
[00:03:18:669] Operation Completed !
[00:00:01:000] <-- Process Duration
Logging ends : 05/27/03 , 20:27:03.
When you use a WAV with the droplet-GUI, just select DTS as output.
Let us know if that works...
Kind regards,
Andreas

regards,
EoH Cheers :) ! but i don't see the advantage of using commandlines when there are so many relevant graphical front-ends (namely, BeSure,OggMachine,BeSweetGUI).
suggestions :
1. split the guide into two pages (method1,method2), because currently it's alittle bit long.
2. use BeSliced in the second method and dts-parser in the first method.
3. replace the direct link to azidts.zip with a link to doom9's download page, because it has an anti-leecher protection.

I think you should judge my guides that way ! They are for guys who don't even know how to use "copy and paste" !!!!!!!!!!!!!your guides are indeed readable and useful for wide audience, but it doesn't mean it shouldn't give the best advices.
(i believe) it should give the best advices - in a readable way :)
you don't like BeSweet/BeSure/OggMachine guides ? great ! so this is your chance to use your expression skills to bring insights to the world of users. show them how to use it. guide them through (one of) the tools.

Hi EoH:
Win DVD Platinum must be installed on the PC. I am waiting for an answer if it can be done without Win DVD,
I've seen quite some threats about this questions, and to my knowledge, one needs a correctly installed and registered WinDVD for iviaudio.ax to work correctly.

Andreas

Hi EoH:
everytime when one file is done, the Win DVD message for the speakers comes up
Guess you can avoid this by using
azidts -auto6ch
instead of
azidts -manualch
I didn't test it in batch mode, but -auto6ch works correctly (even for a 4.0 DTS).
Already made one from the songs from my other favorite artist (!) and..... one dvd with 483 songs
It is actually my favourite artist, and DSOTM changed and enriched my views on life in many aspects. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would highly appreciate to see your compilation in a.b.s.i.o or a.b.s.d.
Take care,
Andreas

Cool! You should use that final space to add all the album art, liner notes etc.

Seems like only DTSWAV works with original DTS CD's. When trying to parse the .dts file taken from a DTS CD (and parsed), the thing crashes.

Yes, I did. And both azidts and the dtssource.ax filter crashed the minute i chose the file. The DTS cd's I'm using as source were "originals" (Sting's "Brand New Day"), and as the guide explains - those cause problems while parsing. However, if using the DTSWAV method - It's ok.

Hi!
I'am quite new in this field, so maybe my question is posted, but I will give it I try:)
I want to encode a DivX movie with GKnot.
My source is a DVD with DTS audio.
Is it possible to use for my audio file in my rip?
Or if I have an AC3 5.1 track to should I use it insted? Is it of better quality or DTS is better?
I want to make 5.1 sound track in my rip.
Thanx,
Gurabli

Hi gurabli
What result would you like to reach:
DivX/XVID with AC3 (5.1) Sound
DivX/XVID with DTS (5.1) Sound (it is possible as PCM but files are that big that you again need a DVD for storing the film)
DivX/XVID with MP3 (2.0) Sound (as DolbySurround ProLogic I/II )
DivX/XVID with OGG (5.1) Sound
DivX/XVID with AAC (5.1) Sound
...
SVCD with DolbySurround ProLogic I/II
SVCD with MPEG Multichannel (5.1)
MVCD/KVCD with ...
you see there many ways to reach a surround sound.
In my opinion the best/fastest way would be you simply demux the AC3 Sound file and the M2V video stream from the DVD, transcode the film in DIVX/XVID (without sound) - finally remux the AVI with AC3 -> finished!!!
You can also work on the DTS file -> split the padding DTS stream after demuxing it from DVD into single 6 WAVs (should be 48KHz!!!) then recode to what ever you want (AC3, AAC, OGG...) but whatīs the use of this? because your DTS is at least 768/1536 KBit/s - after transcoding into another format itīs alway less (AC3 f.E. mostly 384/448 KBit/s).
Report your solution ;)
CYA Daphy
PS: Iīve never used gordianknot - I think itīs much easier to do it myself with the few programs which were needed (smartripper for ripping and demuxing the files, virtualdub(Mod) or DVDx or XMPEG for encoding the movie into DivX/XVID, AVIMUX for remuxing AVI + AC3 -> to final AVI) :sly:

Hi daphy
Thanks for your reply!
Well, I wasn't really precise I know.
So I want to use the so called perfect settings:
2 CD (2*700MB) rip with XviD and a 5.1 surround sound.
I made hundreds of rips, and tried to make them all ac3 5.1.(if it was available)
But now I have a DVD with only DTS sound (no ac3).
That is why I asked is it possible or even more worth of it?
Now I think it is best to use ac3 tracks, if there are, and not the DTS.
But DTS tracks are of higher quality, isn't it?
I preffer to use ac3 for 5.1
I some cases, when I make mp3, I use DolbySurround ProLogic 2.
I like GKnot, with a little tunning it really rocks.

You know I don't post anything from my favorite artist
??? What is the P one???? Could you provide me a link?
BTW I'm surprised to learn English is not your native language. Your guides are very well written.
