let me start it like this:

under the bitrate tab, i got it as:
1-50min - 1 disc - 800min CDR
51-100min - 2 disc - 740min CDR
101-150min - 3 disc - 740min CDR
151-200min - 4 disc - 740min CDR
201-250min - 5 disc - 740min CDR
251-999min - 6 disc - 800min CDR

max = 2500, min = 1500, average = 2000

under (where TMPGenc is) tab:
i got it as CQ (Constant Quality)

i use internal rip
i add intro/change cd/last pictures

first off, i reformated my computer...reinstalled DVD2SVCD, used the same settings as before (see above).

i've done a few 140min movies and were able to get it in 3 discs (CQ were at 80 - 100)(couple of those were action movies too)...but this time, it made it into 4 discs (CQ at 80.5)(disc 4 was 10-20% of the disc). any ideas why and how to fix this cause i'm stumped...

Not directly related to your problem, but why don't you have all rows set to 800? I doubt you actually use 74min (650mb) discs, and that extra 50mb is a fair bit of quality...

when i first started using DVD2SVCD, and tried making a 95-100min (using 51-100 min for 2 disc) movie fit on 2 disc, it would but the 2nd disc would need to be overburnt like 10min...and it usually turns into coasters...i'll try the 800mb later today...hope it doesnt get the overburn problem...

Hi Localboy8o8,

TMPGEnc in CQ mode has unpredictible results in terms of file size.

D2S does some tests (you can see them in log file) in order to guess the CQ factor to get the final file size. You can also preset the final prediction factor, but in my experience, D2S "usually, but not always" choose the right CQ value (that means, the maximum CQ which will produce the required file size). Final prediction factor is a correction of CQ estimated by D2S, to assure a smaller file size.

So, if you have finalized your coding and the final size is too big, you can:

- Start D2S again (from scratch), select Fixed CQ mode, using a CQ a little bit smaller than the one selected by D2S .

But if you do not want to reencode the video...
- Manually change the audio bit rate, running manually BeSweet using a lower bit rate, and then recover from muxing and cutting (I am unsure, but I believe you also have to manually change the bit rate in d2s file or may be in the ini file)
- Use 800 MB CDs, as UltimateDBZ recommends you. Sure this is the best option in this case. (change bitrate tab and try recover from muxing and cutting)

About overburn, well, you can try to overburn around 2 min, and may be (depending on the CD) up to 3-4. I've never tried 10 minutes, but it seems too much.

Hope it helps.

thanks...i tried just making it in 80min discs (instead of 74min), almost made it on two (disc 3 was 10min)...don't know why i'm so anal about it since its usually the credits thats on disc 3 (but to me if your going to backup a movie, you might as well backup the whole thing...so i'll try making it 0-55min, 56-110min etc. with the 80min CD option...that should work, i'm in no rush, after this, i'll need to reformat again since the printer is crashing my computer....but thanks, i'll try that on the other movie...

If you are using TMPGenc and CQ you might want to take a look at www.kvcd.net

They have a program called ToK (To KVCD) that together with MovieStacker is about as easy to use as DVD2SVCD, but which has excellent prediction built in for CQ mode.
