I recently viewed a vcd/svcd. Somehow, the author managed to put on animated menus and music! Which was pretty class! I tried to put a gif file on a menu using nero (as for some animation) but it didnt accept the file.

Just wondering what burning program or process I would need to use to create animated menus and music? And if anyone knows if these extras take up much space on the disc?

Cheers

The best tool to do this is VCDImager, and with the VCDEasy gui it is very easy to use. Don't use gif's, use mpgs. Just encode them like any other video track and you can store them as a video track or a segment on the (S)VCD.

Sorry for the shameless plug but my guide goes into some detail about authoring motion menu's on a (S)VCD, so you may find it useful. It assumes you have a DVD source, but if you are using another source you will just have to create your stills and motion clips yourself.
