i searched on "error" and "encountered a problem" in the dvd2avi forum, and didnt find any answers, so, its been a while since i was active in this forum, but about a year ago, i was doing about a rip a day with no problems at all. now, for some reason, whenever i try to run dvd2avi, i get "dvd2avi has entcountered a problem and needs to shut down. we're sorry for the inconvenience" this was happening when i try to preview my vobs (which were green pixelated trash), now it happens whenever i even try to launch the app. i have tried several different versions. any ideas? by the way, i am ftp'ing the vobs from my modded xbox over a network to my pc's hdd.

The green trash lead me to believe that the vobs r still encrypted. U should investigate this further.

yeah, ya know what? i didnt even think of that. like i said, i just ftp'd the raw vobs from my xbox to my pc. they were not necessarily decrypted though. can dvd decrypter handle raw vobs? its been soooo long. i guess i can fire it up and see huh? thanks, falcor

this is some weird s***, but it seems that the ftp process does something evil to the vobs, cuz i recreated a dvd dir by making a video_ts dir and creating an empty audio_ts dir (cuz some dvds have this) and trying to decrypt and yada yada yada, and the resultant mpeg sucks a**. (as in it is totally unplayable=ggreen screen etc.)i cant understand it at all, but, no matter, i bought a dvd burner the other day and the point is moot now, but still weird. i mean, its digital transference, how the f*** can you corrupt??:confused:

Keep the language down please. And if you have a burner, why not use that one for ripping? Then you won't have the problem of the ftp process doing weird things to the vobs.

sorry about the language, i had had a couple of cocktails when i wrote that and was a bit loose. search on any of my other posts, you will see that is not my writing style. as for the dvd drive, i broke down and got it after figuring out ftp'ing doesnt work (at least not for me) i just poted the above to possibly save someone else the headache;)
