Every movie I try to backup using DVD X Copy always makes two disks when the movies are single disks.
What am I doing wrong or what DON'T I know?

I.E. Money Pit, 91 minutes; Trading Places 116 minutes
Those are BOTH single disk movies.
I don't see any "setting" in the program for making any
changes.

Can anyone help me before I slash my wrists?

this is because a commercial DVD usually holds up to 9.4 Gigs whereas the DVD-R you buy can only hold 4.7 Gig. so unless you recompress your movie it has to be split to two dvd-r.

here's the guides: www.doom9.org

When they are single disk and dvd5 you could try dvddecrepter to make an iso file and burn them with the same program.
