View Full Version : TV Capture guide ==> problems with compression in vdub

I have an ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 9700 PRO

I captured a 2 hours TV Show . Since normally a one hour show is released on 350MB, well two hours are 700MB. So I calculated my bitrate as 1068 so I can have a 700MB File (from my 20GB file after capture by vdub).

However, the guide uses Divx Pro 5.03 and Vdub 1.4 and I have Vdub 1.5.3 and Divx Pro 5.05 . So when they suggest MP3 Audio at 12KB/s, Vdub 1.5 doesnt have that anymore so I had to take 6KB/s.

Furthermore, I used Old 2-pass, 1st-pass and Old 2-pass,2nd-pass like suggested. But when Vdub encodes the second job (2nd pass) the job stucks at 100% and stays there forever... if I abort my AVI is unsuable...

Can you help me ? I used a 384*288 resolution , GMC and Bidirectional Encoding ... I actually followed the guide as is !

Anyone can help?

I wouldn't choose anything lower that 12KB/s. I guess, the problem is that you didn't install the MP3 Radium codec (see doom's download section). If you do this you can choose 96 kbit/s (=12KB/s) at 44.1 kHz.

This could be a bug in Vdub 1.5.3. Did you try 1.5.1 or 1.4?

I installed 1.4.8 like in the guide and the radium mp3 codec... Ill give it a try !

PS. I always have to cut the commercials again since when I close vdub it doesnt save the cuts... how can I save the work Ive done ?
