AC3 transcoding with SoftEncode - Manual?

I've tryed to transcode ac3 sound with softencode but didn't get much results. where can i find a guide? Anyone can help?

I'm trying to transcode a 5.1 channel, 448 kbts ac3 file into a 5.1 channel, 224 kbts ac3 file. The problem is I get no sound in the transcoded file or it gets very low. Why do yo think that happens?
I also tryed to transcode the original ac3 file into a 6 channel wav file in AC3 Machine and then load it up on Softencode and transcode into 224 kbts. That didn't work either.
By the way: do you think its worth having all this work to transcode the 448 kbts ac3 file into lower bitrate or should I just put the " channel original ac3 file in my movies? Thanks a lot.

Whenever I do an transcode I leave the dialog normalization at -27,sample rate at 48khz,room type:small room,film:standard,(or leve check info exists),check dc high filter,checked the bandwidth low pass filter.DO NOT check save frames in Intel byte order,not checked digital deemphasis
As for you second question,I dont transcode the ac3,only when I see some 2.0ac3 448kb for example.Then I always transcode it at 192kbs.
