I have an Intel 845GE based motherboard that supports both 533MHz FSB and HT.
Can I fit it with a 2.4 Pentium 4 “C” with HT? Will it run at 2.4GHz?
Someone told me that because of the processor being multiplier locked, I would have to run it at something like 2.4 x 533 / 800 = 1.6GHz.
Is this true?

The 2.4c runs at 200fsb your board supports 133 so simple calculation of
2400MHz/200*133=1596MHz

So if you put it in your board it should run at 1596MHz, to run at 2.4GHz you'd have to overclock the fsb to 200, this I belive will not happen on a 845GE board, you'd need to put some DDR400 in there set ram to 1:1, but the chances of a 845GE running stable at 200fsb is tiny.

Basicly you need a new board and ram to run a 2.4C.

Basicly you need a new board and ram to run a 2.4C. Not an option. I have Small Form Factor HTPC and there is no way in Earth I could place another board inside. (Money, size, features, etc)
So, this means that if I want HT I have to go with a 3.06GHz.
Bloody hell!   It will get hot in there.:scared: :scared: :scared:
Thanks doaa.

Very interesting idea though,I think it's quite achievable with the right mobo.
Who is the manufacturer of your mobo exactly?

Who is the manufacturer of your mobo exactly? Chyang Fun is.
My SFF is this (http://www.chyangfun.com/Product/CF-S968.htm) with some minor aesthetic and port changes. (I was an early adopter)

I've just received an email stating they will be producing an Intel 865 chipset based product shortly (2-3 months), so that will be my answer, all I have to do is find someone willing to buy mine here in Portugal. Doesn't seem too dificult...
The box sells itself!:)
