Hi,
Does anyone have problems when playback XCD on CD-Writers? I've make a lot of XCD with OGM files, they play on my DVD-R, but the CD-Writer don't allow them. IS an strange behaviour because it burns XCD! But in the explorer there's no way of see the stuff in the XCD. This also happen to some friends of mine; Even with the XCD playback filters installed, when it comes to CD-writer (for example a DVD-CD-RW combo) there's no way to read them; Some of them can't even recognise the CD and stay trying to read, but the computer hang until the CD is ejected. My CD-RW support mode2cd and as far as i know those of mi friends also do. They normally play well in DVD-R or CD-R, so it seems that is a CD-RW problem. Somebody knows about this and how to solve it?
Regards
if you can't see the files in explorer (it doesn't matter if the filter is installed), then your computer can't read the cd. the filter doesn't make the files readable. it just changes the way your player (and NOT the OS) sees the file during playback. it's the same storage format as vcd or svcd. can your computer read vcd or svcd using the cd-writer? if it doesn't then your cd could have problems reading mode2 cds. if you do see files on vcd or svcd, but not on xcd, then your burn process was somehow faulty. try burning at lower speed.

In explorer I don't see the files when the CD is in the CD-writer, but i can see it when it's in the DVD-r. So i was thinking that may be my CD-writer allow me to burn them but not to read them (quite strange anyway). Furthermore, even if i don't see the files in explorer, when opening Nero and check CD properties, Nero read the CD, and teel me its an XCD and is not writable, the same with others info tools (nero info tolls i.e.).
does nero actually say "XCD"??? have we made it into nero's database of cd formats? if we did.. it's good news imho.. nice. can u post a small pic of that pls? thx.
about your problem.. it is known that not all cd readers/writers can read xcd. the cd is a VERY standard cd format (ISO 9660), as i said, not different from vcd or svcd. just different content. so the best i can advise you is to try and burn at lower speed. upgrade the firmware (it has known to help some), or just, live with it, and use the dvd, or another cd-reader to read it.

I'm not sure about that, i used NEro info tools and it says that is a mode2cd and has no space left; I'll post pictures about that as soon as i can, no problem :)
Anyway, about my problem, as i have latest firmwares for my cd-rw i think i'll have to live with it and use DVD-R to watch them; I'm burning XCD at 8x, i'll try 4x instead and see what happens, thanks

@ jkwarras
I have experienced the same trouble with both the DVD drive and the CD-Writer in my second, older PC. Both drives had biggest trouble in playing back Mode2-CDs, and mostly ended in hanging, trying to read something, trying, trying, trying ...
As soon as I reduced my burning speed to 4x, everything turned fine.
Therefore, I burn my Mode2-CDs at 4x exclusively now, for compatibility reasons.

Ok, solution to the problem has been found :) For those experiencing the same problems (burn mode2cd but can't play them on CD-Writer), burn it the right way!!! I was making a mistake when burning the bin/cue image maded by mode2cd maker, i use Nero and choose "burn image", but then i was choosing the .cue file, and then burn the CD. THe CD burns well, not asingle problem, but then incompatibility problems with some CD-Writers and DVD-CD-RW combo that didn't play the CD. This is a stupid behaviour, because "mode2cd" guides says to choose the .bin file when burning with Nero, and i assumed that the burning was the same, but apprently that's not the case. Yesterday i burn 2 mode2 CD, BUT choosing the .bin file (then you choose "mode 2" from the menu that pop up) and you're done!! The CD plays on the CD-Writer; Fucking hell, i've made like 30 CD the wrong way, so watch out the burning way, don't make same mistakes as me :) Hope it helps...

Hint: Use Daemon tools to mount the image, then do a "CD copy". You can hardly make any mistake that way.
