As a newbie, I have tried to stick closely to the "how to" forums' suggestions for recommended software. This is easy to a point, but acquiring gear pro (for less than $750) has proven futile. So I'm trying to author with prassi primo 2.0.

However, despite re-loading and trying every trick under the sun, I cannot get the program to recognize my burner drive--it only recognizes my cd rom drive. I have an HP system with a 200j dvd writer. I have read a dozen or more postings on the topic, and cannot find the answer. I tried downloading the Veritas and Sonic version of pxEngine updater--and after loading, was assured my software was up-to-date (my writer is on the list of compatibles). I also downloaded aspi471a2 driver for XP... and all I get when booting the prassi program is "No compatible recorder drives have been found in the computer."

Any ideas? (I have tried Nero, but I like the simple layout of Prassi (that is, if I can get it to function). ON Nero, I tried 2 discs and both failed to burn due to an insufficient storage on disk problem. Both were new HP dvd+r discs (which I'm afraid are now pooched.))

So, basically I've caught on to the dvd back-up game, but I cannot for the life of me find a way to author files on my hard drive.

Prassi Primo solutions please?? :(

Did you update your prassi engine? You can find that here http://support.sonic.com/downloads/engine.asp
Sorry overlooked the sonic bit.:(
