Which Riteks? well the short answer is "The genuine ones" - in other words, be sure you are buying your media from a reputable supplier who will not try to palm you off with fakes (thankfully, this is rare, but I have read on a number of forums that one or two U.S. media suppliers have been caught doing this... Incidentally, I've never yet heard of this happening in the UK).

I've used unbranded Ritek G04s (lightly frosted - the same ones they sell at LynxDV, although I bought mine from eBay) and they've been fantastic - no coasters, and all of them burned at true 4x on my Sony drive.

I've also burned a great deal more of the TraxData-branded RitekG03s and only had one coaster in well over a hundred burns now, and even then I can't absolutely claim that the media was itself at fault for the burn failure.

If you are in the UK, then I would recommend any of the following four suppliers:

WCWmedia (http://www.wcwmedia.com/products.asp?Category=DVD-Rs) (get DataSafe 'One' Riteks here)

SVP (http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/) (fairly broad -R range)

BigPockets (http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/) (fairly broad +/-R range)

Lynx 'unbranded' 4x G04s (http://www.lynxdv.com/estore/wrapproduct.php?name=lynx4xb)

Be aware that stock changes rapidly in these days of short unreliable DVDR wholesale supply, so if you see a product you like the look of, on any of these sites, then jump in and buy them immediately or be prepared for disappointment when you return!

If you live elsewhere in the world, then I'll let someone else advise you on the best suppliers. I've heard AllMediaOutlet is good in the states, though.

P.S. don't forget to keep this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=40369) in mind.

Get either Ritek G03 or Ritek G04. Avoid the G02's.

If you load up DVDDecryptor, it'll tell you what they are.

I would get them from Rima.com and maybe allmediaoutlet.com

I'd just like to comfirm there's majoy shortage of inexpensive DVD-R discs.

Even one of the largest wholesalers in the world has zero stocks of 1x/2x DVD-R media, but only had princo 4x media ready to ship.

Ended up having to pay $1.25 per disc + shipping charges for 1000 Ritek G03's.

But yeah I'm determined to use/sell quality even if it costs a little extra.

I got my last spindle of G03s from allmediaoutlet.com and they were in fact all Ritek G03s per DVD Decrypter.

If you watch the site you can usually find a free shipping deal if you order the disks along with cases.
