Any guesses why my preview window goes blank when I try to watch (preview) any selected PGC in RA 0.6.3

By "blank" I mean it starts out black and then when I select a PGC (any PGC) and press <play> it goes to gray (same as background of the app) and the little indicator moves across the bottom as is it's playing correctly but I get no video preview.

Thanks...

No idea  . Are you able to play the AVS files in Media Player?

Grover, I would suggest you directly email Aquabubble about it. THat's the way he wants bugs or problems to be reported.
After all, getting a direct answer from the creator is what most men have been looking for for ages, maybe you'll be the one. :D

Thanks for the replies ppl.

That's the wierdest thing ?

try shaking the RA window a little.... I honestly though you were winding me up there -=ViBeZ=- and was about to post back an attempt at a witty reply.

But then I thought "What the heck" and made sure no one was looking and gave it a try. Lo and behold - There was Billy Bob Thornton alive and well inside RA. If I stop that PGC and start another I have I have to "shake" again to get picture. If I leave that window and do something in another app (like type this) I have to shake it when I go back to RA.

It's like the old days of the black and white Victorla valve TV sets that you had to turn on an hour before yuo wanted to watch TV so it could warm up and even then it often required some "lateral encouragment" or "vertical intergration" from time to time.

And to answer brashquido: Yes. I could view the .avs files in WMP (thats what I use to check if they are interlaced).

Is the "shaking" of RA a known "feature" ? I like it in some ways. I don't know why but it makes me smile. :D

Cheers...

Grover - I thought exactly the the same thing when Aquabubble told me the method to get it to work ;)

Glad you got it working & spared me the witty reply :)

He knows about the 'bug' but not sure if he has a solution

he he he... what an entertaining thread?! :D

Yeah, for some people their preview window doesn't show up straight away. I have no idea why since it always does on mine! :( What I really need is someone with a vast amount of experience in DirectShow/DirectX to help me. I've spent many hours on this one, and it is a LOT better than it was, but still it seems it is not enough...

I've had that problem with other apps and generally it's due to a video card driver that doesn't fully support the version of DX your running.

usually the "recommended" answer I've found is to change resolution / color depth.

One of the WinDVD Plat builds did that to me.... Upgrading my video drivers fixed it
