The only thing you could do is use a different computer's dvd-rom then transfer it over the network. If you don't have access to ANY dvd-rom, then there's nothing you can do unless you want to go through the painful process of capturing the output from a dvd standalone player. This won't give you very good results though, it would be easier to just goto a computer store and buy a dvd-rom. You can get some for $20-$30 (USD) around here.

Simple answer, you can't. In order to be able to read the data on your DVD disc you need a DVD-ROM drive. Without one, you won't be able to backup the disc to another disc.

Another thing you can do is to plug your player into your vcr...
You need a macrovision-free player for that...

@ Ripper 24-> Yes, caps and consecutive special characters are frowned upon. ??????, and !!!!!!, per Rule 9 from the Forum Rules located at the top of each forum page, check them out. For a good explanation, and a really good read, check out this Sticky (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51632/) from Basic Topics. Also, give us a good thread title to work with. Lots of people will look at a bogus title and not even open it up, and while waiting for help, you want everyone that drops in to take a look at you.
@ Lord of the Discs--> Is this what you meant by your reply in this thead? Check out the rules as well, particularly R4 and R11. Thanks.

@Ripper - It wasn't a bad question. If tangible proof of a certain level of experience were required for membership here at Doom9, they would never have let me in the door. By now, I'm sure that you've seen many examples of bad thread titles and have given some thought to the topic. Here's a suggestion for how this one could have been titled:
DVD backup without DVD-ROM?
@LotD's - As Oddyseus pointed out earlier today, you have greater knowledge than is the norm for a new member, and much energy, of which I am envious! Fear not, you will have much work to do here!:D

What is expected from me ?
Yes, in theory you could capture your DVDs, but this is the worst way of "converting" DVDs I ever got to know, but it is possible...:D
You should buy yourself a DVD Rom, it is not that expensive I think...

@Tim: " Yes, in theory you could capture your DVDs, but this is the worst way of "converting" DVDs I ever got to know, but it is possible.."
no... the worst way would be to film your TV-Screen with a camcoder then capture, then covert to divx :-P
