does anyone have this card and uses it under windowsXP? I can't get it to work, I've installed many drivers I've found and the result is always the same, "could not start device (code 10)" in the hardware properties. I've fixed the IRQ on the BIOS for every PCI, same error. Any clues?

thanks

To get this card to work under 2000/XP you must use the Pinnacle Studio Deluxe software version 7 or later. The driver for the DC10+ is a part of this software.

I got to say that error code is ringing bells from when I had my DC10+, but can't remember for the life of me what it was.

Hey there, I'd suggest you to try the following:

Download Regdelete utility (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/regdelete.exe) and Pinnacle Studio 8.5.21 Patch. (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/Studio8_5_21.exe)

1. Uninstall Pinnacle Studio software.
2. Run RegDelete utility (cleans all device drivers' registry entries)
3. Shutdown, move your dc10 card into another PCI slot (any Slot)
4. Install Studio 8 software again -do not reboot-, install 8.5.21 path.

Reboot and hopefully this little procedure will do the Trick

Good luck.

sorry, at which point do I install the drivers? At the end? or is the Studio8 installer supposed to install them automatically? because this doesn't happen, it just installs the software and at the end displays a popup that says something like "if windows says the drivers are not certified, press the continue button as pinnacle has fully tested them blah blah".

I've tried uninstalling it, running the regdelete tool, shutdown then moving the card to another pci, reinstall studio 8, install update, reboot, then when the windows hardware driver installer comes up, I point it to use the drivers in the folder of the pinnacle studio 8 installer...

sorry, what's my mistake? any clues?

I can't see any mistakes here, you did everything correctly, however your last steps
"I point it to use the drivers in the folder of the pinnacle studio 8 installer."

Which drivers exactly you're trying to install at this point? Are these original drivers that came with your dc10 card? Bad idea, you should point winxp to extracted 8.5.21 Patch files, otherwise it won't work.

Anyway as your last resort here is an alternative (supposedly bullet proof) method, download this (http://members.bellatlantic.net/~eisler1/DC10xp.zip) file and follow instructions written by creator of this package (I've picked it up on driversguide.com)

Extract this file and remember where
You extracted to. Either use Device Manager to Update Device Driver or Add New Hardware Wizard.

Select Advanced (Install from Specific Location) and Browse to where you Extracted the Files to. Follow the Wizard to Finish. You may get an Error (Device cannot Start) Restart PC and DC10 should now work.

If Hardware Installation will not find DC10 be sure to check in Device Manager if DC10 driver is installed already. Look under Sound Video and Game Controllers for the Non-XP DC10 Drivers and Update driver from there.

To access Device Manager, Right Click My Computer Lift Click Properties. Click on Hardware Tab and then Device Manager. The DC10 may be listed as Unknown Video Device
Or Multimedia Video Controller and likely will be flagged with a yellow Exclamation (!) or a red x (X))

Cheers!
