View Full Version : avs251 install problem
i shouldn't do this, i know, but i'm outta ammo ... :-(
i reinstalled w98se (i do it regularly) & i wanted to get back quicly to the last encode, so i put only necessary stuffs back.
1 system functions properly
2 put up : mp6.4 (with codecs) , xvid , avs251 , vdmod (in this order). all of the newest one. open the last script -> 'avs files cannot be open' ??? mplayer : error 80070485 ???
3 destall/(re)install avs251 with ffwf. -> the latter says 'avisynth.dll cannot be initialized' ???
4 destall , install avs208 -> works fine
5 ... aso from 2/3 to forever -> nothing changed (except that w98 can't forget the file assoc with notepad???) avs208 works, avs 251 not ???
what is missing or what am i doing wrong ? this software set was operable on the same system before reinstallation so i'm sure i forgot sg ... but what ? pls, help!!!
thx in adv

?
What happens if you:
1) install huffyuv
2) I assume you installed a recent built of xvid (otherwise intall a recent built, or divx5)
3) empty plugin dir
4) reinstall v2.51

i tried the aboves one by one & in combination but ... nothing. i can't belive :-( is it really so complicated or am i simply a ******* :-(((

ps some funny thing i found at dawn (too sleepy to understand)
- haven't found any note on avisynth.dll in the registry. shouldn't the path regd somewhere here? (i found reg on 'plugins')
- haven't found any note on YV12. should i do it by hand? neither xvid nor divx has done it (unless i haven't missed something)
- ok ... go to bed :-(
after some more hopeless efforts ... can someone drop me the registry entries of a properly functioning avs251?
thx
y
...
the dirtiest trick ever :
- install 208+ -> works fine
- copy 251 onto -> avs files unoperable (i used only the example scripts for the test)
- copy 208 back -> works again
...
i think i'd better give it up :-(((

Sorry, I don't know how to help. Maybe you can try v2.50?

ok, i give a try to 250 :-( but i don't expect too much :-((
imo, there are 2 possibilities.
- the solution is simpler than trivial, thus nobody ever will think of that.
- it is a system fault, thus nobody ever will find it out
thx anyway

ps does anyone have an 'inst.reg' file at hand? from the good old time. the more i tamper with it the more i'm concerned that the problem's round the registry.

It's the same stuff when you install v2.08.

wilbert, u won! avs250 worx fine! but avs251's still hanging :-(
i'd got not too much time, but i figured out sg :
1) a 'devil.dll' is also installed with avs251 but not removed on destall (???) this little stuff hasn't been included so far. what's it for? may it cause the error?
2a) i installed avs250 (worked fine) & then i simply replaced the avisynth.dll with the 251 one. i got the error msg outlined above
2b) when putting back the 250 one, it worked again
2c) removing the 250 dll from \system generates the same(!!!) error
-> imho, the system can not load the 251 dll. i'm sure it's found but not loaded. why ???
sg has been changed within the dll from 250 to 251 that my system (w98se 4.10.2222A) can't handle. do i need some upgrade or so? i checked the system files listed within avisynth.dll but it seems i got them. what else do i need?
thx

Well, error : 0x80070485 gives:
One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found.
So Im guessing avisynth 2.5 is requiring a library you dont have?
(I honestly dont know enough about the recent avisynth changes. But have you tried updating things like DirectX etc ? )
It'll be interesting to find out why :)

all drivers i installed are the newest available one. no, dx8.1b is not that, but not too old i guess.

i'm about it :-) it seems as if i were the only one ever tried to install avs251 onto a freshly installed w98se.
i should remember what was that stuff in the previous install which made the necessary upgrade somewhere, but it's hopeless. that was like a swamp. that's why i tried to reinstall everything.
maybe a list of the system files required would help. does someone have something like that?
thx
y
btw, xvid worx like hell. marvelous :-)
yessss ... i got it !!! the little beast is called 'msvcp60.dll'. i guess it's very important as nero put it to 4 different places on install (+1 into temp:-)
encouraged by this i tried to figure out why is loadpluginex so reluctant to me. found the same. it seems it needs msvc7 support.
neither msvc6 nor msvc7 support is provided on w98 install. these files skip onto the system invisibly. some softwares put the support needed but some not. time to time i run into this problem & i haven't figured out how to avoid it.
thx

We could include it in the install package, and place it in the system directory, if there isn't one there already...?

That's a good idea ...

yes! that would make (my/our:-) life more easy :-) is it legal, anyway? i mean, including third party stuffs into tools like avs.
thx

It wouldn't really make sense if it wasn't.
It does however seem like we hit the magic 1MB barrier for the installer now. :rolleyes:

When is the new release coming? Docs are already updated :)
some minor bugs:
ConvertaudioTo24bit can't be used (the others work fine)
clip = AviSource(..).ConvertToYUY2
Blankclip(clip)
gives RGB32 instead of YUY2. Somehow the colorformat is not taken from the template clip.

Yes - 24bit audio is currently 100% unsupported - there are no types for this so there has to be coded a workaround. For 2.5.2 it should probably just be noted in the docs.
I cannot reproduce the blankclip issue. Using:
aviSource("2.avi")
converttoyuy2()
blankclip(last)
Produces YUY2 output.
We should probably continue in the "any major bugs left" thread.
Anyway - the current build seems stable to I'm defering anything other than bugfixes to after 2.5.2 non-beta has been released. June 1st is my target date.
