CCE crash right before end of encoding

I'm serving from VirtualDub, and right before the end of the encoding, about 30 frames or so, cce pops up with an AVIStreamRead() error. I'm running XP, AMD. CCE is not encoding audio. VirtualDub is serving audio.

The resulting .mpv is fine, other than being about 30 frames short. But this prevents me from doing multi-pass, since the first pass can never really finish.

Any ideas?

They're all good. I've tried frameserving different segments of the same source video, and it doesn't seem to make a difference. It's always the last 30 frames (of the segment) that don't get encoded.

Well, I still haven't been able to resolve this problem. However, I found that if I set the end frame to at least 30 frames before the last frame, the encoding terminates succesfully.

Have you tried loading the video directly into CCE or frameserving from AVISynth?

I have had the same problem in the past with cce crashing a few frames before it finished the encode. My solution to this was to re-rip the vob files and re-create the project again. By doing this it has so far solved all issue's I've had with this problem. I hope you have the same results and if so let us know.

I have not tried serving from Avisynth. I use virtualdub to crop/resize/deinterlace and serve to the encoder.

I'm glad to hear that reripping worked for someone. Unfortunately, CCE was crashing on all the videos I was trying to encode, which were video captures stored in MJPEG format. Maybe there's some obscure compatibility problem with the setup.

which MJPEG codec are you using?

I believe the Pinnacle DC10+ capture card encodes the video, and I don't know which codec it uses. I'm pretty sure it's hardware encoding though. Concerning decoding, I'm just using Pinnacle's codec.

the DC10+ (like the DC30series) use the Zoran chip for MJPEG encoding and decoding (when you play the mjpeg avi, it should playback on the video out as well).

CCE could possibly natively import the MJPEG (rather than frameserving) which might help, but AVIStreamRead() error may be caused by a bad (dropped) frame in the video, or maybe not.

I too had the same problem with my capture video encoding to SVCD with CCE. Same thing I deinterlace, smooth and resize the video in Virtualdub. When I do multipass encoding in CCE..I had the same error pop up...but once I press OK at the pop up..the video proceed to do second pass encode and same problem for third and fourth pass.

Have u look at the lenght of time in the display in CCE? I'm using CCE2.67.0.10. Check the length of time in CCE. It always read 3sec less then the source. If your source is 1hr27min30sec. It will read 1hr27min 27 or 26sec. I frameserve to CCE from virtualdub and it read 3 sec less..Mu guess is that there is a bug in CCE..that's why we have this problem. In virtualdub, I cut about 5 sec of ending from my source. If you say that set 30 frames less from ending, I should well avoid this problem since I cut more than 30 frames. Well, it didn't happen for me!

CCE2.67.0.11 just came out.I will try that and see what happens!
