Well i finished my DVD with all these complicated menus :) and when i went compile, i got this error after it compiled the main movie:

Compiler Error : Combined (multiplexed) bitrate too high - cannot exceed 10.08mbs. Please reduce stream bitrate or number of streams to be multiplxed.
Build Canceled.

I then tried re-encoding the main movie, and got it down from 3 gb to 2.2 gb. Again the error still occured.
Is this error also partly made because of the pre-movies that occur in the menus. If so what should the bitrate be for these movies, as i was wondering if this is the problem.
Could it be that i just need to figure out how to use 1 film for all the pre-movies.

if anyone else has ever had this problem, pls let me know how u got around it.

Thx

Without knowing either the authoring structure of your DVD (i.e. is is it a multiangle project etc.?), or what format your audio is in, and what bitrates you have encoded your audio and video streams in, it's almost impossible to help you. Please provide these details and we can take things from there.

the movies im backing up is The SCORPION KING at 0/3750/8000 vbr encoding in CCE. Ive also got about 12 other movies which are used in between menus and about 10 menus (both still and animated).
The main movie has two audio tracks, 1 DD, the other DTS.
Could it be that i need to figure out how to have some of those pre movies in 1 big file ( as they are from the vts2_0).

This problem occurs in a couple of places where a fast action scene demands high bitrate, so the sum of the DD and DTS audio, subtitles and video excceed the theoreticl limit of 10.08Mbs.

U can run your video through bitrate viewer and mark the spots where u have the max peeks of the graph. Assuming that the audio is 384(DD) and 768(DTS), add some 50k for each subtitle and control streams u shouldn't have a peek any higher than 9000kbs in the video.

I read that u have set max bitrate in CCE to 8000 but check it anyway.

would it help if i lowered the average bitrate so that the bitrates are 0/3000/8000 as there are points even when not much action that bitrate is 7.745 mbs

The average bitrate is a small factor in the equation. Perhaps by lowering the average bitrate the high peaks would lower too. But this is not guaranteed. Its a wild shot that might work. The best solution is to lower the max bitrate.

lol it seems that the main movie is not the problem.
when its has done the main movie (when compiling),it gets onto the next vob file and when it goes onto vts_03_01, then it comes up with the error as mentioned above. The problem is now though, how do i figure out which file that is?

Since Maestro is reporting this at the end of the compile, I am afraid u have to check every m2v's bitrate to determine the offending one.

U can feed the files to a dummy scenario in Scenarist and build there. He would report right away the problem and the m2v/ac3 that cause it.

i figured out the file that was giving me a problem by zooming in on each movie file so i could see the bitrate, there were 2 files which peaked very high, so i lowred the max bitrate.
thx again
