I followed the guide on this site to encode a video capture (used Huff lossless) to dvd mpeg2, using the highest settings per the guide. The video was 1:12:00 in length and took 11 hours to encode using TMPGEnc. The original file was about 32Gb and the encoded mpeg2 came out to about 2Gb with great quality, burnt to dvd and everything was fine. My question pertains to the length of time to encode the video. 11 hours for a 1 hour 12 min video seemed kinda long. That's less than 3 FPS. Is this normal? Most programs I capture are in the 1 hour to 1.5 hours in length and was thinking that I should use CBR (8Mb rate) encoding instead of 2-pass VBR to save time. I should get the same PQ, or am I incorrect. Any help would be appreciated. Like I said, I followed the guide to a T. Many thanks.
