View Full Version : Maestro Recognition Error Killing Me!

Okay, so I've essentially got my DVD completely done (a compilation of videos from a med school prank and some 'cast' bios). Everything works great except after de-muxing in tmpenc 2.9 on the main video file, the file will not import into Maestro. It gives the following error about 20% into checking the video portion of my main movie:

progressive frame flag in picture coding extension is set to 0

I'm at a loss as to what this is. Making the matter more confusing is the fact that I used the same Tmpenc options as for the main file (2 pass VBR at an average of 2900) to compress another file on the DVD that Maestro accepted with no issue.

Thanks in advance!

Without going down the complicated route (yet!) have you tried an alternative tool for demuxing, just to see what happens?

Thanks for the reply, Arky. You single-handedly make this forum work.

Now to business: I'm only moderately experienced with this, so I'm still working on getting things in tmpenc straight. I'm not even sure what other encoders are worth my time. CCE costs a little too much for my blood. Any others that are worth my time?

Also, do you know why one file but not another will import into Maestro even though they are encoded in the same way?

Thanks again, Arky!

If two files are encoded in the exact same way shouldn't they import both or fail both at the same time?

Did u, by any chance, had the 'Detect scene change' checked?

Unless I am misinterpreting your post (more than likely! :D ), am I right in beieving that, encoding similarities aside, it is only with the demuxed file that you are having difficulties? I really suspect that this has nothing to do with the encoding settings at all, but much more to do with the demuxing process. Just to clear matters up, please do try using an alternative demuxing tool. Then , if the problem remains, we can investigate other avenues.

Thanks for the compliment, BTW :) I do try to help out as often as I can, but I cannot take anywhere near all the credit (flattering though that would be!). There are many great people contributing to this forum community and it's great to share my interest in Digital Video with them, and to learn so much from them. I owe an incalculable amount to Doom9 members, and those who I knew on Flexion (some of whom now frequent Doom9 too).

Get back to oddyseus & I, and I'm sure one of us will get you up and running with that MPEG in Maestro.

Oh, BTW, regarding the cost of CCE - don't forget that you can now get the 'Basic' version for $58, which, IMHO, is an absolutely stunning bargain. I bought it myself and I love it. It only allows 2-pass VBR, and no in-between-passes tweaking, but generally-speaking, this is no hinderance, and should not stop you buying a legit license for the Basic version. The other good news is that speed is identical to CCE-SP
