Hm, what should i vote if i use real audio, vorbis and ac3? It's a little bit hard to get good results from this poll since the audio codecs each have their special areas where they get used, so it's likely that people (like me) use more than one. Maybe multiple votes should be made possible for this (vote only once, but pick as many answers as you like).

Thanks to the moderator for adding AAC/MP4 to this poll. :)

though i suppose feelings towards these codecs change with time, what do these polls really teach us anyways? The real learning is through personal experience with different codecs, and some codecs are better at certain things than others. A little research will go a lot further and have far more meaning than some poll results.
...not saying I didn't vote in each of these threads, I still use mp3 mostly because it's what i first learned and because i don't do DivX backups much anymore so mp2 is actually the format I use most. I'm going to have to get into AAC soon though, since I recently got a diskman that supports both mp3 and AAC.
sorry for intruding on the thread, just felt I had to say this.

That feelings change with time? ;) I agree that a new poll with the same question every month is a bit too much probably, but it's also a sign of a big uncertainty among many users when they feel like creating a new poll so often. So maybe it's better to make one poll sticky, but then the people whose feelings have changed since they voted the first time can't change their vote. In other words: I don't have a definite answer to this problem either. :)

A little research will go a lot further and have far more meaning than some poll results. Right, but being a moderator, too, you know how people are... Maybe you should not allow polls at all here, then your users would have to read the FAQs, use the search function etc. ;)

I'm going to have to get into AAC soon though, since I recently got a diskman that supports both mp3 and AAC. I decided to vote for AAC, because I tried to explain the latest developments in "New A/V formats" recently that do affect the usability of this format for video/audio muxing, especially when using the MP4 container for it. So in this case there is a good reason to "have a new feeling" towards AAC/MP4 indeed. By the way, what diskman do you mean, the Philips Expanium?

I certainly don't want to make this a sticky, stickies are for important things, and as I said, I don't think a poll of the most "popular" audio format is particularly useful.
