[Transferred here from One-Click forum.] As best I can reconstruct it, here's what I did. I may have missed a step or two, so I can't absolutely guarantee this will work. If this works for others (or if it doesn't), I'd appreciate feedback. I haven't checked this out carefully, but I believe this method loses multi-angle features on disc 2 for some reason, which is why the button is disabled in step 6-J. I'm not sure what got left out of Disc2 that would make that feature work; maybe VTS_03_0.* would do the trick. This "guide" assumes a basic working familiarity with the latest versions of DVDdecrypter, IFOedit and MenuEdit.
MATRIX 2-disc SPLIT [Region 1] Cheat Sheet
Basic structure:
Vts_01_*.* extras
Vts_02_*.* menus and main movie
Vts_03_*.* extras
Basic strategy:
Keep modifications and tweaks to a minimum, for full functionality.
Keep all substreams, angles, etc. Split:
Disc 1: all extras and chapters 1-12 of main movie
Disc 2: chapters 13-38 of main movie
1. Create folders \Matrix\original and \Matrix\split
2. Rip all files to folder \Matrix\original\*.*
3. With IFOedit: Open Matrix\original\VIDEO_TS.IFO. Get VTS Sectors, and Backup IFOs to Matrix\IFO-BU\original. QUIT IFOedit.
4. Split: With IFOedit, open \Matrix\original\VTS_02_0.IFO[list=a] Click VOB Extras button. On the Extras screen, make sure ONLY the following are checked:
Options box:
1. Correct Vob-Unit …
2. Correct original IFO files
3. Split to 2 DVD-R’s
4. Create Subfolders…
VOB EXPERT box: all boxes, and VOB Size: 1 GB
File/Directory paths box:
1. Destination: enter \Matrix\split
2. check AutoCopy Menu-file
e. click OK. Next, in Stream List window:
i. in PGC-1, select the line [Ch 13][Pg 13]…
ii. check Correct IFO tables
iii. click Split It
copy \Matrix\original\VTS_0_*.* to both disc folders, and copy \VTS_03_*.* to the folder for Disc1[/list=a]5. Disc 1 Modifications [to disable for Disc2 half of movie]:[list=a] With IFOedit, open \Matrix\split\Disc1\VIDEO_TS.IFO
Get VTS Sectors, and Backup IFOs to \Matrix\IFO-BU\split orig disc1
Save, and Quit IFOedit.
Modify Individual Scene Selection menus: With MenuEdit, open \Matrix\split\disc1\VTS_02_0.vob
In VobID 2, CellID 2, select buttons 9-13 and delete; first time through, on the options screen, select “Hide and update” and “Jump to non deleted button.”.
Repeat for CellID 3.
Save & exit.
With IFOedit, open \Matrix\split\Disc1\VIDEO_TS.IFO
Get VTS Sectors, and Backup IFOs to \Matrix\IFO-BU\split final disc1[/list=a]6. Disc 2 Modifications [to disable extras & Disc1 half of movie]
[list=a] With IFOedit, open \Matrix\split\Disc2\VIDEO_TS.IFO
Get VTS Sectors, and Backup IFOs to \Matrix\IFO-BU\split orig disc2
Modify First Play: in VIDEO_TS.IFO, VMGM_MAT, First Play PGC, PGC Command Table, edit PreCommand #2 to read
(JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1 Save.
Modify Start of Scene Selection Menu: In VTS_02_0.IFO, VTSM_PGCI_UT:
i. in PGC-Menu_1 (Root Menu), PGC Program Map:, double-click on
Program 1:…, and change the value to 3.
ii. In PGC-Menu_2, PGC Program Map:, Programs 1-3, change the
values to 4. [forces Scene Selection menu to start with
Scene 13 page, skipping 1-6 and 7-12.]
Save, and Quit IFOedit.
Modify Individual Scene Selection menus: With MenuEdit,
open \Matrix\split\disc2\VTS_02_0.vob.
In VobID 2, on CellID 4, select buttons 7 & 8, and delete.
Repeat for CellID's 5, 6, 7, and 8. [2COOL could no doubt suggest an easier way to do this part, with IFO edit, but this worked for me.]
Disable Extras: In VobID 6, CellID 2, select and disable
buttons 2 & 3 (“Making Of” and the red pill).
Save & exit.
With IFOedit, open \Matrix\split\Disc1\VIDEO_TS.IFO
Get VTS Sectors, and Backup IFOs to \Matrix\IFO-BU\split final disc2[/list=a]7. Burn with whatever works for you. Personally, I’m getting best results lately by first converting each fileset to an image, using ImgTools, and then burning with RecordNow Max.
