audio out of sync after seeking

I have searched the forum 'DivX5 Encoding', it seems others do not have the the problem that I am experiencing.
I have an AVI file encoded with DivX5, here's the info:
576 x 288
01:40:21
698MB
I plays perfectly if I watch the movie from the beginning, but the audio lags the video for about 1 to 2 seconds after seeking. I have tried 2 decoders and 2 Players:
"ffdshow-20021213-general purpose DivX_XviD decoding filter" and "DivX5.02 Pro", WMP6.4 and ZoomPlayer3.0, the problem persists.
I think it's not hardware problem, since I have 768MB DDR333 & AMD XP2000+. And some of my friends also experience the same problem.
I am really confused:confused: :confused: :confused: !
Could anybody please tell me how to solve it?

Does it stay out-of-synch from the seek point to the end of the content, or does it stop and "resync" after, perhaps 5-10 seconds?

It stays out-of-synch til the end, and it seems the problem gets worse towards the end!

Just a guess, of course, but it may be something in the interleaving, or in the audio encoding. Try installing GSpot (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Editing/gspot21.zip), it can tell you about your A/V interleaving as well as about your audio codec.

Can it be the problem of the audio decoder? Since I have tried 3 different video decoders: ffdshow, DivX5.02 and DivX3.1, and the problem persists.
My system's default audio decoder is "Default DirectSound Device". Is there any ways to change the default audio decoder(in Win2000 Pro)?
