I recorded a movie from videotape in french. I have also the
DVD rip in japanese. I want to put french track into DVD rip.

the main pb is that videotape source is not digital. so even
timestreching the whole track, sync is not reached.

because of frame drop / and magnetic tape relaxation

the solution is to manually resynchronize the french track
regarding video frames. is there any software to do that ?
I mean, create some syncronisation markers and applying
timestretching between theses markers.

if there is no software around, I think it could be possible
to make one from scratch with resampling algorithms (does
anybody known where I can found a timestreching algorithm ?)

timestreching is not so usefull because resync should be
under 1 sec.

this had been discussed zillion times. your topic says it all - search!

The only way to do it (I have done it once) is to use Vegas Video, import video part & audio part & play with audio part by slpiiting it & moving on a timeline.

Really long process, but the result was really worth it

I prefer the response from sebus than from DSPGuru :D
I'm sorry DSPGuru but the search is not so powerfull as you say...
using only keywords to search a very particual stuff is not
easy. So I prefer to talk with guys thant with a PHP script.
;) :D :p
I'm joking.

when people joins the forum, they agree to the forum rules (a link can be found on top). i have already mentioned one of the philosophies of this forum which is - "welcome new member, search for old threads before you post".

this forum exists long enough for lots of topics to be already covered.
from time to time i see user joins the forum, ignores the rules and start creating threads like "help me, how do i", and so.
this site has guides, faqs, there are lots useful old threads. no one is here to serve spoiled users who contribute nothing to the disucssions and only wants to get straight answers.

lately, after announcing my retirement, i've noticed too many threads with questions and ideas that had been shot 2 years ago. that is complete disrespect to the forum and its loyal members. that will lower the quality of the discussions of the forum and will discourage knowledgeable members to take part in those discussion, nor share their knowledge.

hypercube and others, stop ignoring the forum rules!
i'm serious.

ps,
if you think to yourself "oh, well, he'll be leaving very soon anyway", you should know that all the moderators in the forum shares the same basic philosophy and had promised to enforce the forum rules.

In my opinion, things are not so simple...
In a way you are absolutly right, but in another way,
it is important to refresh information. So reposting
about an old subject can be benefict. And it can
motivate a guy like me to build a new tool to make
audio resync possible with Videotape recordings.
(I actually work on it)

am I a spoiled user ?

I fact, I thing it could be a very good thing to create
downloadable .CHM archives of the forum.

"welcome new member, search for old threads before you post".
this is a good philosophy but the forum is so huge that it is
not so easy to search in all threads. In facts, There is only
one or two level to classify information in doom9 forum. This
is a real problem, you don't thing so ?

2. help new users catch-up by reading this thread's old posts, instead of re-raising up (solved) issues.

keep this forum's ruleZ ;).

am I a spoiled user ?this was a general comment and i weren't talking of anyone specifiec, but to be honest - you sure are spoiled, sometimes..
being a developer won't give you the privillige to ignore the spirit of the forum. believe me, I know! i once asked doom9 about something - and he pointed me directly to the guides/faqs.

note that this is a forum with over than 30,000 users. we believe that the only way to maintain its quality is to be strict with our spoiled-unfriendly rules.

see this merged thread :

this issue had been solved so many times in discussions & guides & faqs. still, time and time again we see a neW thread with the very same question.

anyone may think that he is special, and if "only" he creates a new thread (because he must have a straight answer and don't have the time to search or read the guides or faqs), this won't have much of an effect on this forum.
so let me re-emphasise this point. no1 is special :). if we want a good forum, we need to understand it and respect each other.
