hello !
I didn't understood when I would prefer not to use forced film and when I need to use IVTC insted of Field Deinterlace

isn't it right to simply do the folowing:
if 29.97 -> check force FILM
if I notice interlece artifacts -> use Field Deinterlace

what's wrong with that ?

(I had an NTSC interlaced movie, r4r didn't check force FILM so I understood I should prefer IVTC, so I did and I still saw little annoying interlace artifacts in the final avi...)

Hi-

For modern mainstream Hollywood type movies it's almost always OK to Force Film. However, there are many, many movies out there where Force Film is the wrong thing to do if you care about the quality of your rips. If you Force Film a completely interlaced source, it'll play jerky, even if you deinterlace. If you Force Film a telecined film which has a low percentage in DVD2AVI, then it will play jerky in spots, and if you deinterlace it to remove the interlacing, you'll wind up with blurry frames. And if you had IVTC'd instead, it would have played smooth and clear. As for winding up with artifacts in your interlaced movie, sometimes you have to tweak the deinterlacer in Telecide().
