Just a question: will it ever be feasible to implement the muxing of audio files with alexnoe's AVI-Mux? I am curious, because not knowing much about the frames or why nandub does a bad job, I have been using this for AC3 and getting much better results. I know that Gknot now uses Vdubmod rather than nandub to mux, but I am still wary (side question: is this warranted? does vdubmod mux perfectly?). Anyway, it is my perception that many people use alexnoe's tool for perfectly synced, fast-seeking AC3 and VBR/CBR-MP3 muxing, so just curious about the future prospects of collaboration between this great tool and your great tool, Gknot. Thanks!

Why do people still use MP3 for audio in movies?? AC3 I understand, but there are better lossy codecs for audio. I prefer the AAC and Vorbis audio in all of my rips. The filesize is smaller and it sounds better imo than an mp3 at the same bitrate.

When I'm working with a 2ch AC3, converting it to MP3 sounds fine to me. I'm comfortable with it, and I've been experimenting with video codecs. Normally I'm hesitant to make a lot of changes at once with the way I rip, in case I have problems. That's why I personally use MP3. Thanks for your opinion, but I think there is still an interest in integrating AVI-Mux into Gknot for AC3 even if MP3 is not used by many.
