may i suggest adding support for dts transcoding in newer versions of gknot :) ?
basicly, all you need to do is :
1. add two more files to the package (azidts.exe,BeSweet.dll).
2. in additon to BeSweet.exe's path, there would be a need for setting the path of azidts.exe in the gui.
3. support for demuxing the dts stream
4. executing azidts.exe instead of BeSweet.exe whenever the file is dts
note that the commandline stays *exactly the same* :) (-core( -input -output -logfile ) -ota( -d .. -hybridgain ) -lame( --alt-preset 128 ))

Sound pretty doable.
(It means support for DVD2AVI 1.77 though...)

How can I know that ? (will they have the same AC3 extention after demuxing ?)

when you extract dts streams (with dvd2avi 1.77), make sure you name it ".dts", and the GUI will know which tool to execute. (BeSweet.exe or azidts.exe)

That's what I was asking: will 1.77 do that extension automatically or not ? (I don't have time to check myself yet) Coz it might be confusing for ppl if they forget to do that manually and it won't work afterwards...
btw there is now a new mpeg2dec3 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53164) available which supports 1.77.3 .d2vs!

can someone try that with existing GK and see if it works?
nic, trbarry and shodan are still working on it so i think it wouldnt be a bad idea to wait a little bit for a final release...

I tried it briefly with GK last night and it seemed to work (though I couldn't tell any difference in speed) fine.
But I agree with bond, it's probably a good idea to wait at least a few days and see what happens.

Hm... So, you just replaced mpeg2dec3 with the new one?
And you were able to see the video when opening d2v of new format?
I wonder how that possible since GK uses mpeg2dec.dll for opening video from d2v and mpeg2dec3.dll for encoding in avs...
Last time I tried using mpeg2dec3 for opening video - I couldn't...
So will new mpeg2dec3 replace both dll that I'm using right now, or just second one (in which case we need two dlls for dealing with new format anyway...)

Well, as you said yourself, I only replaced mpeg2dec3.dll. I didn't touch mpeg2dec.dll...

Neither could I.
Just teasing you a bit... :D

I've managed to get GK working with any DVD2AVI version which means that DTS support can finally be implemented. However atm I don't have any dts dvds around, so can someone upload a short dts track somewhere I can get it from ? (so that I can do some testing)

hey, where are the ppl who wanted the feature to be done ? :(
I desperately need some DTS file to test the code, which has already be done...

post a query at the audio forum. i guess the audio freaks there will be able to help you :)
Just a minor question here... is GK who is going to deal with DVD2AVI and DTS? Not r4r?

I don't know if Thewef will update R4R once Lenox get the DTS transcoding to work. And if he doesn't then that means we got to go back to the manual way of ripping and doing all the steps ourselves. But if I remember correctly R4R is opensource, so anyone could add in the DTS support and DVD2AVI 1.77

No... I think R4R is NOT opensource...

it's indeed not open source and indeed it doesn't support dvd2avi 1.77. it may stay like that for a while coz i remember Wef mentioning something about not caving cli in that version of dvd2avi.
anyway we will not remove 1.76 from GK, but rather provide 1.77 in a separate dir, so that gk will use 1.77 and r4r will use 1.76...

about command line option -azid which is being used by besweet: azidts only works without that option, is that right ?
DSPguru

yeap. no -azid or -azidts.
anyhow, the only thing you might like to control on azidts is the downmix mode (6ch/2ch/etc'..), but i yet to see a problem with its automatic downmix detection mechanizm.

any progress with implementing dts ?

dts transcoding is there for quite a while already...

ah sorry I got that wrong
I was thinking about being able to use the dts track without encoding/transcoding
could that be done too?
but to succesfully mux an dts track you need to use AviMux so I am a bit confused
