View Full Version : Jagged frames (flickering)

I have noticed after encoding my first two dvd's that the resulting video produces a weird jagged flicker in several areas of the movie.

The flicker is like an obvious line that moves up the screen and then will stop. The flicker seems to be caused by frames that are not aligned with each other properly.

It always happens at the same areas in the movie when i play them back.

Im not sure what is causing this. Im not sure if this is only Xvid.

Anyone know what this is? How to correct this?

thanks.

1st post the settings you used to encode the clip
2nd which player&settings do you use, etc.

That effect is called banding. Using that as a search term might help you.

This usually happens if the refresh-rate of your monitor is not multiple (or even) to the playback rate of your video, i.e. having a 23.976fps movie played back on a 85Hz monitor will show this behaviour.

I didn't read too much about "reclock dshow", but that may help this (look in the general discussion forum).
