1) not yet. Do it with VDubMod
2) yes. GK will use VDubMod (I guess..)
3) Chapters are embedded in the ogm or matroska container. So you don't have to open a txt or chf file with BSplayer.

Great new feature with different language support in GKnot. I just have one question:
Can't GKnot remember which language I have set, because when I select another language and close the program it still comes up with English language as standard next time I open it? (Have also tried saving default values but nothing happens).
Thx again for a great and usefull tool.

that's already done for 0.28.5 which should come with all possible languages already in :)

Can I ask you to post what're doing here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54019
so that ppl know which translations are in progress and don't do that job in parallel...

Hi there.
Robot4Rip isnt working with the new DVD2AVI version , atleast not with me.
1.76 rips nicely, when I tryed the 1.77 path it gave black box and error in the log entry.
R4R doesnt support the new DVD2AVI ?

correct. that's why 1.76 is still in the distribution.

1) the comptest in this GKnot version doesnt seem to write a .stats file when i choose xvid!
after the comptest very low numbers like 20% are shown but when i switch to divx3 good ones (~70%) show up?
2) The "floating point division by zero" is still shown sometimes when i want to open old stats files. anything that can be done about that (opening the stats files under "nandub stats files" works fine)?
3) when doing comptest with divx5, which .log file is the one to keep for future comparisons? i cant load any .log file after the comptest anymore?
len0x
15th June 2003, 16:14
1) For comp test we use 1 pass qualilty based (100%) and if you look in the XviD option you'll see that stats file is only available for 2pass modes...
2) it's due to b-frames option selected in XviD. known issue, but I cannot resolve that easily due to absense of knowledge of how those stats files are parsed (I havn't touched them at all - since 0.27)
3) for both divx5 and xvid I use vdenc.log, you can load it afterwards as long as it has still the name vdenc.log (renaming won't work, because I cannot distinguish between this log and log file from divx5.0.2 which still can be loaded manually...)
P.S. I don't see the point of using stats file with XviD for comp test anyway... (if you think about b-frames, then GK will soon perform "extended" comp test calcualtions automatically when using b-frames (like Jonny's Enc))

When I load vdenc.log it just show a value that is in the output quality indicator, and % # comes in at 100%. When I change the output resolution, output quality indicator value changes and then when I load vdenc.log I get 100%. What's wrong with this?
This is happening after encoding a movie.

I know this is just a tiny and cosmetic thing, but I really love the look of the new encoder window with the black background! Heh.
Hey, I was wondering if it would be easy/impossible so than when GKnot starts VDubMod, it can be 'called' (wrong word?) in such a way that the smaller, stats window would be selected as 'Always on Top', much like the Windoze task manager?
I always have roughly forty thousand windows open at a time, and would really enjoy being able to keep a visual progress by just glancing.
On a completely different subject, I don't think I can work on a computer now that has only one monitor.

If you ever do what colordog suggest, please do it as an option that can be turned off.
Because I hate 'Always on Top' windows. :)

"always on top" is not a property of a window, but rather behavior of a program, which cannot be controlled from outside...

I've been using GK for months and I love it, but could it be possible to enter any FPS and not only one of the list, please?
my prob : using a "bob" filter in AviSynth results in doubling the frame number of a clip. As I can't change the FPS (for instance from 25 to 50), the duration of the clip is doubled, screwing the bitrate estimation of the audio and video stream.
thanks in advance

Let me get this straight - you actually producing final avi with 50 fps ?

yep
I'm dealing with PAL anime DVD, which are well known for their fields containing blended fields (sic, bad NTSC 59,94 fields/sec -> PAL 50 fields/sec). so there's little interest in desinterlacing such clips. it's much easier and faster to just "bob" them, producing clips with half-height and double-length.
the disk-space needed is actually (about) the same, and the full-height can easily be restored with post-processing.

heh.
i'd love it too if it didn't sucks on my machine :
probably comes from my xp theme, but : i have the black look, that's ok, the only pb is that ... err ... text is also black :( or more exactly very dark.
could you fix this ? (force the white color of the text)
thx.

@cork
...you can fix this:)
1.Go into your GKnot folder and make a backup of "info.txt"
2.Once you've done the backup, open the "info.txt" file with Wordpad
3.Select all the text & go to "Format"->"Font"
4.Select the font & the color you want then go to File->Save As and save it as info.rtf (be sure to save it as Rich Text Format)
5.Once you've save the file in GKnot's folder (info.rtf) change the extension into .txt (info.rtf->info.txt)
6.Fire up Gordian Knot and go check the Info Tab
P.S: this is a temporary fix....
See ya:cool:

Well personally I'd like to see OGM support (which is done actually already, but we need to look at bitrate calculator more closely), saving and loading jobs. As of rest - it'll go from request section of SF...
P.S. i'm not sure about MKV support, coz I tried matroska itself and not impressed with it's stability...

OGM is 0.29 feature, stable version of which will not be ealier than August. 0.28.5.1 will contain updated languages (it's mainly for that anyway)

you can always get the last version at http://sourceforge.net/projects/gordianknot/
I know... but it's not there. Only RipPack 0.28.5.
The application only is 0.27.

The 'application' is now in the rippack. Download it and you'll see. :)

len0x,
would be great to have the option to insert negative crop values. (add black pixels to the sides) in order to ease the resize and achieve 0 aspect error and at the same time not get stuck with a 99% H-resize for instance. Adding pixels will make it possible to always get the nice 100% and 0 aspect error.
thanx (and great great great work of course...)

Matroska is supported in 0.29.
The problem are the players. Even if GK seems to do his work properly, your player (Core, WMP) will or will not read properly the file.

It's more playback issue that support. I dunno how we gonna package that.
Btw, are u ready for using MKV _completely_ instead of AVI ?

like the others said, just because some dvdplayers make problems this doesnt mean it doesnt work (it works great in graphedit, which means that the directshow filter perfectly works)
Btw, are u ready for using MKV _completely_ instead of AVI ? i am using no container at all at the moment cause i am waiting for aac+ which will be available on 18th july and then i am going to use aac+ in matroska :)

@len0x,
Mind if you make the GK 0.28.5 app only,
so we don't have to download the whole BIG rippack :(
Thank you.

I avoided that for a reason - not to have lots of complains about GK not working due to incorrect versions of dlls and tools... (which were change dramatically around 0.28.3)

@Len0x,
Ok, I can understand your reason ;)
btw, I just found new bug 0.28.5.2,
which it will not save the info of NTSC/PAL,
I have project in NTSC, after I close the GK app.
and start again, the project will be shown as PAL on the res. asp. ratio, but the framerate info is 23.75 which is still correct.
Thank you.
