Extracting simple menu graphics from the vob

I am somewhat of a newbie, but I couldn't find an answer to a question. Perhaps I am using the wrong terms when I search, I don't know. Anyway, my question to anyone and all is: Is it possible to extract a simple menu background graphic from an existing vob, edit it in Photoshop (or similar) and replace it in the vob? The menu does not have any movement or effects, it is just a picture.. I removed the link on the menu with the awesome program MenuEdit, but it would be nice to remove the text referring to it as well.

Sure it's possible. Use vobedit to demux to cell id. Then play the vob containing the menu in power dvd or other player that captures video frames to a bmp. Then edit the bmp in a graphic program of choice, encode the bmp as a m2v file using tmpgenc, and then remúx back into the vob file. Next step is to combine all the vobs that were demuxed back into one vob. I tend to find that the quality degrades, but thats personal opinion. Also you'll most likely have a smaller sized vob, but it should still function. Note this only works if the menu has it's own vob/cell id alone.
