View Full Version : Annoying sync problem !!

Right, I have been creating DVD video using CQ encoding. The final file is fine, but when using Uleads software (both Movie Factory and Workshop) I find the final product is off-sync, the audio is out of time from the picture. This doesn't happen if I use TMPG Author. So all I can imagine is it is the Ulead software at fault. I have tried Sonic Foundry's DVD Architecht, but it seems it wants to convert the video and doesn't seem to have an option to leave the video as it is, the tick to "re-encode video" is greyed out with a tick, I need to untick that but can't, which leads me to think it assumes it isn't compliant, but I know it is.

I hate the interface of TMPG Author, so I don't really want to have to use that. What other author software can I try that isn't too complicated ? I like the Ulead style interface because it is powerful but user friendly. So, regardless of cost, what other authoring software is there out there ? As I know my videos work in TMPG so they must also work in some other software.

Finally, does anyone know quite why Ulead's software seems to be having this sync problem ? I would re-encode it if there was a CQ option with GOPs and the like, but sadly not. I have even tried to use TMPG to author it to a VIDEO_TS folder and then import it in the Movie Factory but it then says it is 18gb and wants to re-encode, arrggghh.

Any help much appreciated, thanks !!

First of all just check this in DVD Architect: File -> Properties and make sure its set to the right TV system and resolution for your file and tick the box "always use these settings". Close Architect and re-open it and try importing your files again - this should stop it thinking all your video needs re-encoding.

If that doesn't work try DVD Maestro - its nice and easy and quite powerful - never had any sync issues with it.
