Problem with subs , really strange , help needed !

I tried to backup my disc of Fawlty Towers Season 1 (PAL) and it went gr8 as usual but one thing bothers me though , the subs all start at the appropriate time but they show less long then on the original dvd , so the subs start at the beginning of the sentence but they disappear halfway, i used scenarist to author , ifoupdate 0.71 to make the changes to the ifos... Anyone has an idea how to solve this ?

The most common problem on NTSC disc r drop frame issues. Search for relevant posts.

However u can check the option in the subtitles text window in subrip, if this is what u r using. There is a Time correction menu that has a fixed subtitle duration. Perhaps its check to a value.

thx for the reply but its a PAL disc as i said b4 , subs were ripped by vobsub using doitfast4u, the subs itself r perfect they just dont show as long as in the original dvd, thx for the answer anyway , at least someone took the trouble

Why dont u switch to subrip instead of vobsub. U have to extract the bmps from the ifo file but u want run into any troubles.

I would open the sst file in notebook and look if there are values regarding the subtitle-duration in it.
If the values are long enough, than you can assume that scenarist overrides this value...
IIRC, there is a setting in scenarist with which you can change the default duration (to the value in the script)...
If the setting in the script is not correct, then you could change it, but I would rather suggest too to try subrip first then...
