View Full Version : XVID 2nd pass only with Gordian Knot

I am using Gordian Knot with XVID and on the second vdubmod pass my computer locked up. I still have the .stats file. Is there an easy way to use Gordian Knot to set up only the second pass again? I went into Vdubmod and have set up a second pass manually but I don't know enough to really trust myself to get it right consistently.

No, it's not possible at the moment. For now you'll have to do it manually.

I suspect len0x is aware of this (perhaps I should check Sourceforge a bit to see what's already reported instead of just assuming stuff...)

After fiddling around with the setting for a while, I am getting a file size ~50% greater than I want. Its Apollo 13 on 3 CD's with 2 audio tracks. The video portion size is 1.7GB = 1,800,000KB which is what I put into the 2 pass/2nd pas int file size desired box thingy. Now after it is 20% done, the projected file size is 3.1GB. And the movie won't change enough for that to go down. Any idea what I am doing wrong now? If I can't figure this out I get to do 2 passes again :D

Thanks for any help

Do not confuse ppl :)
Just second pass should work perfectly...
(if you open d2v again before setting second pass, so that all the settings like size, crop etc are correct, then just selecting Nth pass and providing stats file)

Really? I've never tried it. I'm a bit uncertain now, but I think that pulldown-box where you select the number of passes only show 2 and bigger, and that's what brought me to this conclusion. But this doesn't make much since with XviD.

I'll try it.

Edit: Just tried it and you are indeed correct. I must've had DivX on my mind (in which case this would be true). That pulldown-box isn't even there. Sorry.

Actually it's correct even for DivX, but only starting with second pass onwards (i.e. it will always queue 2nd, 3d and so on...). So you can't resume 3d pass for instance... (well you can actually, but it'll be seen as 2nd)

I don't quite understand you. We have three options - multipass, 1st pass and nth pass.

Multipass will behave just as expected.

1st pass I've never tried, but I assume it just creates the log file.

nth pass only have options for 2 passes and more. So if you've already run a first pass and would like to use GK to run a second, you'd have to select 2 as it's the lowest number, but this will of course result in 3 total passes.

The obvious solution should be to add a 1 to the pulldown-box?

Or did I minunderstand something? I've never had reason to try it, I've only checked the graphics which implies the above observation.

Actually I checked and Nth pass only creates one second path entry in the job list :) (regardless of number of passes selected...)
My intended behaviour was - to create n-1 pass automatically so you don't need 1 pass settings. (so I will make it work like this)

It seems to be enough to resume any pass in that case...
