View Full Version : AVI2SVCD and Inverse Telecine
Is there a way to specify Inverse Telecine in AVI2SVCD? I added it by editing the script but then I can't figure out how to get it to run pulldown.

Hi-
Are you saying that you have a 29.97fps .avi that you want to IVTC down to 23.976fps? And are you saying that the original source was telecined, and the original encoder didn't IVTC? And you then have an .avi where 2 of every 5 frames are either interlaced, or deinterlaced and blended together into blurred frames?
If the answer to those questions is yes, then I'd say forget it. It'll never look any better, and probably look even worse. The fields have already been destroyed.
But if you want to see for yourself, there's no reason you can't take the 23.976fps movie.mpv that AVI2SVCD gives you and then run Pulldown manually, and then run bbMPEG to mux and get the movie.mpg, and then VCDEasy or something to get the Bin-Cue files.
The AVI hasn't been encoded. It's a DV capture from a TV show. I've already done what you suggested anbd it worked fine.
I just asked to see if I can get it working within AVI2SVCD.

Hi-
OK-good, you got it. I was figuring it was an .avi from a DVD that was your source. I've never done quite what you're doing, so I didn't really know the answer. Ordinarily you don't perform IVTC on an .avi. And if that option isn't in AVI2SVCD, then I guess that's the reason.
Lucky thing I didn't accuse you of downloading a crap movie from the Internet. Then I would really have been in trouble. :) Maybe someone else has done what you're doing and can give a better answer about how to do it entirely from within AVI2SVCD.
