View Full Version : too dumb to correct audio?!

Hi,
don't know why, but it seems like I just don't get it, how to correct the audio after reauthoring..
Here's the original structure:
Audio stream 1 status: 32768 (german 5.1)
Audio stream 2 status: 33024 (german dts)
Audio stream 3 status: 33280 (engl. 5.1)
Audio stream 4 status: 33536 (engl. comment)
I stripped the german DTS stream, reauthored with Scenarist, updated the ifos and now have got the following
structure:
Audio stream 1 status: 32768 (german 5.1)
Audio stream 2 status: 33024 (engl. 5.1)
Audio stream 3 status: 33280 (engl comment)
Now could anyone please say to me, what I have to set here that everything plays fine again?
I've been trying this shit for hours now without any success, the english 5.1 and the english commentary always play the wrong stream!
Please help me out, I'm getting crazy!
Thanks,
TB

This will make your day!:D Don't worry, it's a common problem. Check out this guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46909).

I knew your guides already, but no matter what I set, it doesn't work..
In my case I would just set the second audio stream to 0, and the engl. 5.1 (33024) to the third, the engl. commentary (33280) to fourth, right?
That would look like this:
Audio stream 1 status: 32768 (german 5.1)
Audio stream 2 status: 0
Audio stream 2 status: 33024 (engl. 5.1)
Audio stream 3 status: 33280 (engl comment)
But then my engl 5.1 is completly gone and I can't choose the commentary anymore.. I've also been trying many different other settings but nothing works.
Something's wrong here, whether it's so obvious that I can't see it or I did a mistake during the authoring process?!
Please just post, what you'd set here that I can find out if it's me or if there's a failure somewhere else..
Thanks,

Hmmm...first of all, I read your first post and like to say, I don't use Scenarist so I don't know what you did in reauthoring. I guess I jumped the gun by assuming you had stripped the DTS out. Anyway...
the english 5.1 and the english commentary always play the wrong stream!
...exactly what stream does your english audios playing instead? Are they swapped? Are they both playing German?

Yeah, maybe the problem's the different programs/ methods we use..
I recognized that in your guide after the stripping process the Director's Commentary has still the same status (33280), which isn't so in my case, there the status, the sectors change. You can see that in my first post. But if that would make problems all the other people who are re-authoring would have posted that before.
So when I set the streams as in my first post then the english 5.1 track is greyed out in PowerDVD which seems to mean that it's somehow "gone"(?).
The english 5.1 button selects the commentary audio and the commentary button just selects nothing..
Thanks for your reply, I hope this prob is easy to solve..

The english 5.1 button selects the commentary audio and the commentary button just selects nothing.
What happens when you swap the values of your 5.1 and commentary?

If you authored it with Scenarist there should be no reason to update ifo's or adjust anything. Just what do you mean by "reauthored".
If you kept the audio substream numbers as the original then what you want is:
Audio stream 1 status: 32768 (german 5.1)
Audio stream 2 status: 33280 (engl. 5.1)
Audio stream 3 status: 33536 (engl. comment)
These numbers identify the substream number to use when a given track (stream in IfoEdit) is selected.
If you did not change any menues or substream numbers the original should work, but with the DTS stream silent. This is what it looks like you did, as the "English 5.1 button selects the commentary audio". English 5.1 will choose track 3, just as before. Another thing you can do is copy track 1 to track 2 (make both "stream" 1 and 2 32768), so if DTS is selected, it will play German 5.1

@2COOL: when I swap them it's the same: the engl.5.1 is gone, the engl.5.1 button selects the comment, the comment button selects nothing
@mpucoder: I followed the the dif4u-guide, so I have to update the ifos in the end otherwise my chapters and everthing's totally screwed up.
With your settings it's like you said already: the DTS button plays the engl.5.1, the german button german5.1, the engl.5.1 button plays the comment and the comment button plays the german5.1
Don't know :-(

u missed a dummy audio file to put in the second position for a place holder for dts audio. U have moved up the remaining 2 streams of the structure thats why u r having these problems.
In your case and to avoid rebuilding the title set I would moved to PGCITI of the new ifo after updating with ifoupdate and change the audio codes to the following.
Audio 1-32768 (1st audio stream)
Audio 2-0 (No sound)
Audio 3-33024 (2nd audio stream)
Audio 4-33280 (3d audio stream).
What u have been talking about is the luck of the final stream in playback, alltough it is present in the vob files.
With all due respect to mpucoder, u r missing the obvious. Menu structure expects the second audio to be a dts one. Instead it contains the Eng 5.1. The only way to correct it is to silent audio 2 (0) in the pgc 2nd audio and move the code for 2nd audio to 3d audio stream and 3d audio to 4th audio stream.

Thanks oddyseus,
but that was exactly what I did, look at my 2nd post there you'll see it.
I've done several tries again but now my chapters are messed up, too, and I don't know why.
No, I've made a very hard decision for me now: I'll just give up. I'm gonna get a copy of InstantCopy or something and will let one of these one-click-solutions-for-dumbs do my backups. No more dif4u, no more CCE no more stress. I have been trying and trying to make perfect backups with best quallity for over one year now but always ran into problems some bigger some not so big. Now the moment has come where I've had enough.
Maybe one time when I'm not so stressed anymore I'll try it again but not now. It's a hard decision because -to be honest- it was my only hobby so I've got to search for a new one now I think..
But of course thanks for all your help out there, this is a very cool forum with very cool people, and maybe I'll have a few questions with the new program(s) again..
Bye,
TB

I didn't miss that, the last part of the post was about "If you did not change any menues or substream numbers..." and I suggested using the original values but replacing the second entry with the value of the first entry, so if the DTS button was pressed you would get German 5.1 (same as the first).
The first part of the post was assuming new menues had been made and the audio added in with Scenarist (which is what reauthoring means).

Your second post reads as this. If there isn't any typo error u have changed the Audio 2 twice thus moved up the En5.1 to the DTS selction button and Commentary to the 5.1 position. This is backedup from the statement that u can't chooses the commentary anymore.
Assuming ofcourse that u haven't misplaced the audios in the wrong position in the first place. Its a common error and hard to think of it.
@mpucoder. I read your post again and I think that I understand what u r saying. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I think it isn't so hard to understand but nevertheless it doesn't work . But as I said before I can't concentrate on such things anymore maybe I make the same mistake again and again, maybe it's my system, I don't know but I don't have the nerves anymore.
But thanks a lot for your help!
