Did anyone ever make a decision as to if variable frame rate will be supported in Avisynth 3.0?
I was doing a little bit of 3D rendering recently, and it occured to me that an motionless scenes are going to have identical frames. It would be nice to have a have a filter in 3.0 that would detect an identical frame and just drop it out of the stream.

Is that a no there wont be support, or no a decision wasnt made?
I think variable framerate support is an extremely important feature for anime, as most stuff these days is 24/30 fps hybrids.
I think variable framerate is so complicated to do that it should just be left alone (at least for now).

Then what is the major step forward that is being made with a 3.0 release?

@Pamel
Here's a thread you'd want to read: link (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47203&highlight=variable+frame+rate+avisynth).

I have seen tht thread, and have even posted in it. However, it didn't appear absolutely clear that this was in the plan. Can a developer working on 3.0 comment on if this going to be in the feature set?

IMO no. To few apps support this feature (no commercial). The current interface will have to be completely rewritten. No "fake AVI" support anymore. Rewrite of MANY filters.... And so little gained.
AviSynth should not become VFR - it is a completely different application.

Thanks, got it.
So, is anyone planning this 'other application'? Is there a point to even making one, or is it better to just use DShow filters, and build a graph?
