How can you check the average quantizer in DivX 5.05?

Is there any way of checking the average quantizer used after nth passes are finished?

I'm only a noob, so I don't know if this program will do what you want it to do, but have a look at DRF analyzer (http://www.geocities.com/analyzerdrf/index.html) it may be of some help to you (hopefully) :)

Create a text file in C:\, or whatever drive your OS is installed, named "FrameLevelControl.txt". The last pass made with Divx will give this file a ton of data about ea. frame. At the bottom of this file ( which seems to take forever to load), you will see the Q value of every frame encoded. If you would care to save the data it gives ya, copy and paste it to a separate text file, because the next pass you make with Divx will replace the current data in the FLC.txt file. It will look like this, though I will delete all zero Q values:

Bit distribution:
text mot stuff
I-frames 2.0% 0.0% 0.0%
P-frames 76.6% 5.2% 0.0%
B-frames 2.7% 1.8% 0.0%

Approx bitrate = 1089084.138409 bits/s

This was just a filter test run, but you get the idea.

You could also use a little tool called 'DRFanalyzer' which will tell you all sorts of stuff.
Do a search on Google and you'll find it.
Also handy for those rips you don't have the stats file for.
