Hey all,

I just got a new computer and am ready to do some HQ DVD burning. ;)

I have the flyvideo2000fm card and i was wondering what the best programs were for capture. The flyvideo lifeview capturing program only does 640x520 tops. I'd like to be able to do 720 for NTSC. I'd also like to be able to go to MPEG2 right away instead of saving huge AVI files. Any suggestions on the best programs to do this and how much they cost? I downloaded the intervideo wincoder and it did both of the things i was looking for. Not sure if it's the best for these purposes tho.

And any programs that will allow me to edit and mix these types of files? Seems like none of mine will let me

thanks! :)

I cannot tell you which one is 'best', I can only tell you about the one I use (haven't compared anything, in other words). My PC came with PowerVCR, which may be worth for you to look into. It can save directly to MPEG2, and has various settings to play around with. Editing and mixing would take you into applications like Adobe Premiere, Vegas and the likes.

There's been a lot of discussion here about the relative merits of many capture programs and editing tools. Run a search and dig into a couple of hours of reading - that will give you a good feel for what is important in these areas and how different options stack up. Good luck!

Jazz,

Thanks for the help. I was primarily looking for responses from people who have the flyvideo. The reason being that I have spent many hours already looking over these forums and gotten a lot of advice. However, upon downloading certain programs and installing them...i'll try to capture only to have them crash my entire system. That is why I was looking for input from those who have this particular card to see what works for them.

Do you have it?
