Hi, I have several subs language in an ogm container, each one has forced and translation . Is it possible to force subs in ogm (playing later by default)? or should i add forced subs like normal subs :
For exemple :
audio german : forced german or german normal (ogm : add chinese german)
audio english : forced english or english normal (ogm : add japanese english)
thanks

I don't think this is possible in OGM except for just simply placing the forced track as the first subtitle track in the file. In Matroska we have settings for which tracks should be played by default so you could set the forced track as default and then leave the others as optional. This isn't yet implemented in the tools or the filter though. It most certainly will be soon though. This is a major goal in our multi-language/multi-stream support.

@spyder: Did we ever run any tests to see what the overhead is for a subtitle track? I realise that it would be to small to worry about, but where there any tests?

Is it possible : as in DVD the application have a default language, and use the forced subtitle associated with it.
Example :
4 audio : English Forced, English, French forced, French.
If I configure a software in English, it may choose English forced
If I configure a software in French, it may choose French forced
DVD players know to do it (because in IFO there is a bit for saying forced for each subtitle, and you can configure your prefered language), does matroska make it possible?

Well, I am not sure when this will all be implemented. The use of forced subs would best be supported by the use of the default flags on the tracks. There is a part of the format that is yet to be finalized that would allow what Zenitram asks. It allows you to specify different "editions" of a file for playback. For example, the English edition could let you play the file with english audio and english forced subs. The French edition then would play with the french audio and subs as default. Basicly the editions allow multiple playback configurations to be named in the file. Unless I was totally sleeping when it was cut out, I am positive it is still in the spec. As far as when it will be implemented, I don't see it coming until after some more important features of the multi-language support is completed. Also, I think we can store chapter names in multiple languages ;)
Please be patient while we implement some of these things.
