Hello everyone !

I know have latest divx pro installed on my computer with vdub and several filters. I tried to use Vdub only for ripping (extracted the .vob from the DVD, applied a temporal smoother, brightness and all. It looked pretty nice in the preview. Then I chose Divx 5.04 as my compression method, but when I looked at the result (Only encoded a little part to see) the result was extremely noisy and I could see some sort of watermarks everywhere when the actors moved.

Could it be something I did with DVD2AVI ? I enabled FORCEFILM ... is there any good guide for using divx5 with vdub?

Thank you ! :)

What program are you using? I recomend Gordian Knot for your first rips. It's easy and has been updated to the newest verion on Doom9's Guides

...is there any good guide for using divx5 with vdub? Doom9 has written a very nice Vdub procedures guide, and in the news section at www.doom9.org he mentions a new release for VdubMod.

But I think your best bet would be to start with his meta-guide for DivX encoding. (http://www.doom9.org/divx-encoding.htm).

Good luck! It's a learning experience, but worth it.

I already try to use GKnot. It gave poor results and is not as flexible as VDub is...

I will look over the guides you gave me.

Thank you !

If you know how to use Avisynth, then gknot has all the capabilities as Vdub and more. You can create an Avisynth script with any of the filters that Vdub has. I suggest you read the documentation that came with Gknot for Avisynth to lean how to write a script.

That's my problem... I don't know anything about scripting in avisynth. I wish I did...

Ill try to use Gknot again !
