Best Setting for Converting DiVX to SVCD

Dear Friends,
I want to convert Divx to SCVD.I`ve got both TMPG ver. 12a and Ver.2.59.47.155.Using the ver.12a, I`ve converted DiVX to VCD many times.
Loading the provided templates for SuperVideoCD(NTSCFilm) or SuperVideoCD(29.97fps), in the configuration under the "Video Tab", the "Rate Control Mode" could be selected by the user.Default setting is "Constant Image Quality" or CQ, but there are many options available.
I`ve encoded with CQ, the result was semi-perfect, just there`s a slight problem with the converted file size!!!! A 1:46 min. movie ended up 1.62 GB, which cannot be put into 2 SVCD`s.Converting the same file with DVD2SVCD with CinemaCraft Encoder yields two 80 min. image files.But it took more than 10-12 hours on my system.TMPG makes it in less than 4 Hours.
Anyway, any hint with the best setting for the aforementioned subject is highly appreciated.

the problem with the constant quality mode is that you cannot predict the filesize.
if you want to be sure that you get the right filesize use 2 pass vbr mode (wich doubles the rendering time) or constant bitrate mode (wich ruins the image quality ;) )
of course you have to set the right average bitrate in these modes.

Even if you don't want to use the KVCD format they've come up with some very good prediction methods for CQ mode in TMPGenc.

Also, DVD2SVCD has a prediction method for CQ as well (and you can do most divxs with DVD2SVCD's AVI2SVCD setting).

Do not ask "what's best" because this question cannot be answered objectively. Each and everyone has their own view about what's best in a certain area. The best is what works best for you!"

Both Zhnujm & Mordant have been very helpful, just they just didn`t close the subject, mayabe due to the reason, that they over estimated my knowledge.
Rather than to get into such dilemma`s, I`d lik to know how to calculate the correct bitrate and where to put this bitrate in TMPG in order to convert a DiVX 2 SVCD.

you can find thousands of bitrate calculators in the net, i usually use this one http://www.tomzavodny.cz/program/bitcalc/index_en.php

just enter the calculated bitrate in the average bitrate field. for minimun bitrate i wouldnt go under 500kBit and max bitrate better not above 2500kBit or some player will have playback problems.

you may also have a look at mordants suggestion as it would save a lot of encoding time.
