weird subtitle error

i just used ifo edit to create ifos for a vts set but it messed up the subtitles somehow.

this is what was listed for the original ifo for subtitle information:
SubPicture 1: English (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x20,0x21)
SubPicture 2: Francais (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x22,0x23,0x20)

this is what was listed for the ifo that IfoEdit created:
SubPicture 1: Not Specified (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x20)
SubPicture 2: Not Specified (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x21)
SubPicture 3: Not Specified (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x22)
SubPicture 4: Not Specified (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x23)

the subtitles are showing up but they aren't clear and distinct. they show up without outlines and they are all in green for some reason.

anyway as u can tell i'm a noob so any info would be greatly appreciated....thanks

Have U copy and paste the color palette from the original ifo into your ifo ?

thanks 2cool...the subs are working perfectly now.

i was just wondering if there was anyway to change the location of the subs though. they are showing up in the bottom of the actual movie but i wanted them to be shown in the bottom black area of the widescreen movie.

Your TV set is probably 4:3 format so, if U are playing a 16:9 movie a top and bottom black area will apear on the screen in order to fit the movie in the 4:3 format, but, on DVD, the movie is still 16:9. The only way to change the location of the subtitle without reauthoring the DVD is to play the movie using a PC and displaying an external subtitle with a special tool like DVDSubber.

Did you make sure you got the correct subpicture substream? 16:9 movies can have up to 3 substreams for each stream - one for widescreen display, another for auto-letterboxed, and another for auto-pan/scan. The display that has black bars on the bottom is called auto-letterboxed. IfoEdit can identify the correct stream number in the original ifo. Find the PGC, then look at the subpicture information. What you see there is a map of selected stream to substream. Make sure the substream you used was listed as letterboxed.
