Problems with WinDVR

Hi! I'm new in this forum, but I've searched for solution for my problem.

WinDVR gives me very good pictures when I capture, so I hope there's an answer to my problems.

I have cinergy 400 from Terratec. the sound goes throug the in-line in my creative soundblaster live card.

Other:
AMD xp+2200
abit nf7-s mobo
1 gb memory

The sound is like when you have recorded cassette's with a battery cassette-recorder with very low battery-level. I have no better way to explain this.

I have tried other capture programs, but as I said, I like the captured pictures WinDVR gives me. I have the same problems with the sound when I tried WinDVD Recorder, also from InterVideo. I don't have problem with sound when I use power vcr or viritual dub.

I don't use WinDVR any more, but I have used it, say six to eight months ago.
I've also used other capturing software which have used Intervideo's encoding filters and I've found that they all produce bad sounding audio with the default preset for audio bitrate. At least the versions I used, maybe Intervideo's done something about it by now.
Are you using the version of WinDVR that came bundles with the Terratec card?

Is the audio on your captures metallic-sounding? Is there like a ringing noise on it?

What I would test if I were you is:
Verify that the audio is bad on the actual recording by playing the Mpeg-2 file in various software (to eliminate the possibility that it's the playback filters that generate the unpleasant sound).
For example, download PowerDVD and play your files in it.
Do the files still sound bad when played in PowerDVD?
If they do, then change the capture settings in WinDVR .
Raise the audio bitrate from 224 kbps (which is the default) to 384. I've never got good results with the 224 setting, so if you can increase it to 384 kbps, it may help.

The sound is not metalic-sounding. It's just perfect until the film reach 9-10 sec's. Then it becomes like I explained in my first post. Hope you can imagine:D

I have tried other software (even power DVD), and also burnt to a DVD, but the sound is still bad.

I don't have the option to raise the audio bitrate higher than 224.

I've read the FAQ's at intervideos homepage, but I did'nt get any wiser. But I'm not allowed to get any support because I did'nt buy the software, but it came bundles with the capturing card.

No, not quite... Low batteries.. Hmm. As far as I recall when my portable "Walkman" with a recording function was low on power, the tape ran slower. So when fresh batteries were installed and the tape played back at normal speed, everything that had been recorded when the battery levels were low was playing much too fast . Is that what you're saying?
