I see in the "Codec shoot-out 2003" that the author refers to something he calls "cartoon mode" in XVid. So far I haven't been able to find that. What and where is it?

It's a feature that's not present in any of the builds ATM. Cartoon Mode is Ishibaar's project and Doom9 has been using a special build provided to him by Ishibaar from his personal XviD-CVS-tree.

Be patient, hopefully we'll see it in a future version (as Doom9's test seems to indicate it's stable and working properly).

Hmm, I thought the reason he gave all the settings was so that people could exactly reproduce his tests... but he tested with an unreleased codec?! Sorry, I just thought that was ironic, no offense intended to Doom9 whose tests were extremely informative :D.

did anybody even bother to get the source from the isibaar tree in the CVS and compile it? It contains, line for line, the code I have used in the comparison. He who claims I tested an unreleased codec is clearly mistaken.

Most people use Koepi's or uManiac's (and formerly Nic's) builds so most of the people on the forum didn't had any sort of feedback on this feature.

@Isibaar and those who tested this

Are there any particular reasons for this feature not be included on the main CVS so we can use it through the "traditional" builds?

Best regards,
Bilu

We on #xvid even had no idea an Isibaar branch existed :D.

adding new features would making the merge of the main and v4 branch a lot more complicated, so it's not included. Plus, I actually found a problem (which is mentioned in the comparison), so it needs some more work and testing.

Why are you in a hurry about those new features? They will be relased when they will work properly.

Isn't actual Xvid good enough for you? Well for me, yes.

Every quality improvement is a present for all of us, so don't borther them.
